I had trouble sleeping a year ago because of menopause, so my Ob/gyn prescribed Ambien CR. I have a brother who is also an Ob/gyn, and when I mentioned I was still taking the Ambien CR, he has a fit so I quit 2 nights ago... Substituted Melatonin. NO sleep the 1st night. Very little last night. Adding a glass of red wine to my routine. Have had a horrible headache SINCE I quit the Ambien CR. Hoping to get back to some sort of normalsy SOON !!!! My suggestion to anyone... Take something natural. Not this stuff.

I have suffered from depression all my life. I am currently taking Pristiq. Not really sure it's doing much good. I have been prescribed Abilify, Remeron, numerous drugs to go along with the Pristiq, one at a time of course. Also at some point Ambien was added in. I liked the Ambien, I could sleep through the night with it but became concerned about getting hooked on a sleeping pill. When I spoke to my doctor he replaced it with Seroquel. I was told it would help my depression. I immediately noticed a difference. It calmed me down and I could sleep all night and all the next day if I wanted to. But after a few weeks it's effects wore off and I wasn't sleeping again so I went back to the Ambien. My husband wasn't happy. So I am again trying to get off Ambien, this time without the Seroquel, and I have never been more miserable. The Seroquel, I have discovered is nothing more than a sleeping pill just like the Ambien. I have been having constant headaches, migraine sized headaches. I am vomitting and sick every day. I have had no sleep for the last 3 nights. I'm convinced the only reason I didn't have withdrawl the first time I tried to stop taking it was because it was immediately replaced with the Seroquel. My advice to anyone is to check out the drug before you fill the prescription. It is not worth the price you pay to try and get off these meds. Doctors are paid to prescribe medicines and they do it well but that doesn't mean it is what's right for you. Drug companies don't tell you the full side effects because they want your money. Go to forums like this and find real people who have had experience with whatever drug your doctor prescribes for you especially if they are anti depressants or sleeping aids.

I have suffered with debilitating headaches for more than a year. I assumed it was caused from neck injury. Went to chiropractor for a while and followed an exercise routine for my neck. The headaches were always upon waking in a.m. Finally it occurred to me google causes of severe headache upon waking and I found website with other ambien users having severe head pain. I have stopped ambien and have not had those horrible horrible headaches.
