Has anyone else experienced this? I have a rash and the more i read about Altace the more i think it is causing it. My doctor has not mentioned anything about Altace causing it. Im not convinced.

Within the last 3 months, I have been experiencing anxiety, strong and irregular heart beat, sleeplisness, and tinitus (really bad). Today I have stopped taking Altace and will monitor my BP. Besides, I just taking a beta blocker (TOPRAL 25 mg) for migraine headaches. I hope and pray the bad symptoms subside soon. I have had really bad migraines with this medicine. Also, I am ALWAYS tired. Yesterday I collapsed on the floor at home after exercising at the gym and having a blood glucose reading of 120. I am a mother of four and can't function with this medicine.

Maybe if you people got off your duffs and exercised you would feel better. I walk everyday and lift everyday but still get bad leg cramps

I have practically the same condition. I had wondered if it was the generic Altace and now I think it is! I hope you're better. Please let us know how you are and what answers you may have found. Lizz R wrote: I'm on Ramipril 2.5 mg. For the last 3 months I've had dry mouth, then there was tiny red sores and burning mouth felt like my mouth was on fire..For the last few weeks my mouth was so dry I startedt the biotene toothpaste and mouthwash, definatly helped...Anyway, after 3 month not healing mouth and tongue sores and burning I went to my Medical Dr. After blood test all normal, they said they will test me for some disease..And it wasnt' the blood presure meds..So i decided to go to my Peridontist, he also said it wasn't the altace..Anyway I stopped on my own yesterday the Ramiphil and omg!!! today i can swallow and I finally have spit in my mouth....After reading up i haven't really found anyone else having a SEVERE DRY MOUTH SORES AND TONGUE PAIN ..does anyone else have these side effects or allergic reaction to these meds??? I get the results of more tests on Tues..but I will let my drs know that I'm starting to feel better and my salvia glands seem to produce spit in my mouth since I stopped the blood pressure generic of Altace

He did this because my BP was 140/90, but that really fluctuates. A recent reading was 100/60. I have been taking altace 10mg for two years i am 66 years old and my bp fluctuates from 180/80 to 120/70 depending on how much sleep i have and food and drink.I started a excercise program three weaks ago and my bp has been more regular and i have more energy and feel one hundred percent better I still feel some weakness and tiredness. Walk or swim if possible. Good Luck

I just started ramipril and water pills...my BP was 200/90 I don't know it now and I am getting a dry scratchy throat an lathargic. Everywhere I read I see I am not on a good combo. Most my life I have had low or normal BP with the odd high one. I think I should stop the ramipril and get a monitor and see what is ir now. Maybe it was a thing?

I was 40yrs old when myy doc started me on 5mg altace then 10 and then 20mg/day, because my diastolic was getting up to 80 sometimes 85+. When I moved to France the Doc reduced altace to 5mg and added a diuretic. Now, I am 55 and my pressure is less than 110/70.. No side effects, but I decided to stop taking it and log carefully the BP since it was normal/low. For a month now it hovers around 110/70. If I ask the my Doc I know he is going to say to stay on. But why is it nessecary if my BP is always normal (sometimes low) w/o the pill ? How can it be dangerous ?

Hi Angie, I have had a similar problem to yours after taking ramipril. I too have suffered excruciating stomach pain and swelling in my neck together with irregular heartbeat and massively increased BP. I am trying to build up some evidence to support my contention that ramipril is the cause as Doctors simply refuse to act on the information they get back from their patients.I hope you have resolved your problems but any help in supplying authentic cases of severe side effects would be helpful.I intend to set up a website to draw attention to this problem and hopefully increase awareness of the potential harm this drug can cause. Meanwhile any person reading this who has suffered a severe reaction please help by emailing me details at cliveh7@gmail.com Kind Regards, Clive. angie dewson wrote: think twice ive had heart pain and so many unexplained symptoms i am still exhausted and in constant pain i also am very weak some nights pain is unbeasrable i feel im going mad had no problems until 1 week after being on it one week climbing lookouts the and from then on couldnt function properlyto this day i am still no good extreme pain which looks like will be with me forever utter exhaustion aching all over and the dreaded burning through my whole system tried telling drs altace was the cause my family could not believe the change in me i am not living just existing even after going off it i am still suffering 4 mths later i have ruined my life i am 54 and was so active because i had some other stuff going on in my life drs put down to depression dont let them tell you its not the medication its dangerous

I have been on Altace for over 10 years. I had a heart attack at age 34 and have been on 10mg for the most part. I was smoking after 7 years of quitting......I know....what an idiot!!!
I quit smoking again and 3 weeks ago, stopped taking Altace. I can't afford either anymore....lol
I feel great and have more energy than ever. I went for a 16K hike the other day and felt great. I figure the percentage of chance that I brought my target down by quitting the smokes has offset the negative effect that stopping the Altace will have and I can live with that.

It seems to say everyewhere that his is a side effect. Just wondering if it subsided after you stopped taking the medication.

I've taken Altace along with hydrochlorothiazide for almost 20 years and have had no side effects. I tried the generic ramipril for two separate 90 day periods and it was not as effective as my BP rose. Using PubMed I found articles that indicate that ramipril does not contain all of the ingredients in Altace in 25% of the studies/samples.
