I think all of us must make our own topic about ourselves... Then we can see each others improvement and help each other...OKAY im on accutane now for a month, after 2 weeks i saw a improvement, the acne got smaller, lighter and fewer... and now all of a sudden i break out!! that same acne came out.Is this normal and how long will this breakouts last??? your comment will be highly appriciated

Accutane is bringing everything to the surface, so yeah don't worry you'll be clear by around month 3. (thats average at least). :)

this EXACT thing is happening with me! I don't think the drug really starts working after a month or maybe two... at least not for some people. i'm starting to break out again too, but maybe the drug just has to bring out all the acne waiting to come out from under your skin before it clears your it all the way... i'm no dermatologist, but it seems sensible, so i'm keeping positive and waiting for it to go away.

Well I have been on accutane for 7 days now...Before i had only a few zits...but when i got on accutane for 7 days now I had the WORST breakout ever....people say that this should go away in a few weeks (I hope)....and Paula since u r only 15 I would wait b/c alot of studies show some negative side effects for those who did not fully develop physically. It is your call..but my advice is to wait since ur acne is not bad

hey paula

wow you and i are in the same situation. i have had the redness on my cheeks for years now..went on accutane for 5 months...completely clear at this point..i am 2 months post tane..and the redness is still very much *there*. i am planning on getting some sort of laser treatments during the summer. i hear fraxel is excellent though each session costs about 1k and most patients need at least 5 sessions. i also heard that the chemical peels are also very effective. perhaps some type of cream might do the trick..though those are not permanent. i wish i had no more advice for you..but unfortunately, i am in the same situation and it is absolutely horrible. i am able to conceal the redness with makeup..i just started using cover fx and i absolutely love it. is the redness only limited to your cheeks? because i have no redness on my t-zone or chin or any other area aside from my cheeks which i have had for many years. i dont think accutane will 'take care' of the redness. im still waiting...

any insight would be appreciated!

about the redness thing... I had a chemical peel two years ago and it helped a lot, but around the fall after i got it (i got it in the spring) it came back. I don't mean to scare anyone; it may be different for different people, but that's what happened with me. I'm on tane for it now and I think it'll work. As for the people with really stubborn redness, i'm sure the laser treatment would work if all else fails.

hey taner

i only have it on my cheeks too. Even when i get a small pimple it takes alot of time to heal it for some reason. Any home remedies that would help red marks or acne ? and wich cleanser can i use?

I use aveda cleanser for sensitive skin from the aveda store at the mall. i also use mario bedescue's skin line. they hve this mask with aloe vera specifically for pigmentation that i use once a week..its a calming cream mask. for makeup, i use cover fx which is speciifically for our skin types..its really amazing..very light and awesome coverage i highly recomend. as far as permanent options...i am going to wait untill my 6 month post tane mark and hve laser treatments. possibly fraxel or the smoothbeam laser. i also heard about photodynamic therapy which is apprently perfect for the red marks/scars. i will let u know how it works out for me once i give it a shot!

oh and for the redness, my friend mentioned rubbing alow vera once a week OR emu oil. i hvnt tried though.

hope i was helpful.

u let me know if anything works for you...i am willing to try just about anything. at this point, when i wear foundation..a very thin layer..u cannot see any redness or pigmentation and i dont hve any current acne thanks for the tane..but i hate wearing makeup and would like the redness from all the inflamation to disappear. i think we both hve very sensitive skin. and since u mentioned how it takes u a while to heal, perhaps u can take some vitamins to boost ur immune system.

And Cetaphil I hear is also very helpful and in terms of the redness, best bet really is to shoot for those lasers. Very pricey but well worth it!

Though i can tell its helping my skin, i get really really severe nosebleeds. my dermatologist says that its normal, but i need some sort of solution for it, because i get them in class and stuff and its really awful.

any ideas?

also, if you know of a product thats really great for dry lips i could use it- my dermatologist reccomended aquafor, and it worked until he upped my dosage, but now it doesnt seem to have any effect.

i used cetaphil and it seemed to make my pimples red, and kinda worse. Noxema works good i guess and i use Clindasol cream for my acne, but it doesnt seem to work. I think ill give laser a try. By the way my derm sais that acne is not caused by food but i feel like eveytime i eat junk my skin gets worse. Can this be true?

well i guess it can be caused by junk food, theres probably a certain bacteria in that food which causes you to breakout, i mean chocolate is my weakness, everytime i eat a chocolate bar i always without a doubt get a pimple on my face. It's honestly the way your body reacts to it, every1s different, so i'd suggest not to eat junk food for the time your on tane and focus more on a cleaner diet *thumbs up
