how much did everyone here pay monthly? not interested in ppl who buy it online, just those who get it as a prescription through a pharmacy.

I cringe when I think about this because it was a huge mistake.
I paid cash at the pharmacy 6 years ago. 40mg. $140.00/week, cash, 52 weeks =$7280. It was the worst financial decision I ever made in my life because not only did it NOT work, it left me with permanent skin damage (200 widespread scars, some large), thymus damage and lung damage (granuloma). Joint damage that has been mostly resolved. Dont waste your money and damage your body. There are better ways to solve acne. Even if your insurance were to pay for it. Dont abuse your body with this horrible drug. |

Accuante WORKS!! I used it in 2003 and I am using it again. I have not had health problems due to the accutance. Most insurances cover the generic. Also you can go online and try to purchase from a third party

Hey Olivia.
I was on the Accutane brand Isotretinoin for 2 months until my insurance stopped paying for it. The pharmacy wanted $900 (IIRC) for a month supply of Accutane. I switched to the generic "Sotret" brand for $500 per month. Try calling around to the different pharmacies to compare prices (CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Walmart etc). __ Paul Michaels Ft. that's unbelievably high and thats the U.S. price too, my 1st month was free which i found quite odd, but i wasn't gonna ask the pharmacist any questions lol. i don't think i can afford this drug. but you're right, i should call around. thanks a ton. |

this medication is covered by my insurance and im paying 6 dollars a month for it, so depending on your insurance you can get it basically free. i have been on it close to 6 months now and it deff works, i went from horrible acne to baby smooth skin with pimples or bumps at all, my face is still a little red where the acne used to be but my derm said that will fade over the next few months. my insurance is "AETNA" incase you were wondering. if you have any questions, feel free to ask =)

It's atucally not bad, it doesn't work for a specific group of people, and out of every 10 8/10 will have cleared skin. |

Hi Olivia, I don't know why most of your respondents are paying hundreds of dollars for Accutane but anyways I paid $10 for a month supply of Clavaris which is a generic of Accutane. It depends on your insurance, I had Blue Shield HMO. If your first month was free then I suppose your insurance covers the entire co-pay for your Accutane. Good luck. |

Steph:
Do you have the regular OpenAccess AETNA account? I am starting Accutane next month and am trying to budget for the cost. AETNA hasn't been able to give me specific quotes. I so hope we have the same plan!$6 a month is do-able!I'm so relieved to finally be starting something that works! It's good to hear success stories like yours.

I pay $70.00 a month for the generic version. I also have to pay $50.00 for a 3 month supply of birth control.

I was on this about 6 years ago when I was in HS. I took it for about 6 months and had very clear skin until recently. My derm told me that it typically lasts 5 yrs. My acne has started to come back slightly and I have noticed it getting worse in the last few weeks. Rather than do the run around with antibiotics/topical gels and creams, I am just going back on it. The dryness definitely sucks, but completely worth it to have clear skin again! Steph, I experienced the redness and some minor scarring last time I was on it. All of that did go away within a few months of finishing the medication.

I just picked up my first prescription today (Clavaris 40mg x60 capsules). I have Blue Cross Federal Employees insurance. I paid $126.00. It said my insurance saved me $503.99!

I am currently taking Claravis(isotretinoin)40mg. I paid $233 for first month. Wal-Mart pharmacy said the original cost was $263. My Aetna only paid $30 because of my high deductible. I have only taken 5 capsules so far. Of course I haven't seen any improvement yet but I am patiently waiting. The only side effects so far are fatigue and weird dreams. I am taking a risk I know but I have been dealing with acne for ten years and have wasted a lot of money/time. I hope this works for all who use it.
