I've been using Accutane for a month now and am really enjoying the lack of oil on my face and scalp. Once I stop using Accutane (not anytime soon, but this is for future reference), will my normal oil production begin again, or does Accutane have a lasting effect that prevents your pores from producing so much oil?

I can only speak for myself, but this is my experience:

I've been on two full courses with Accutane, and cleared up 100% while on the drug.
About a year (or a little less) after the first course, I started to get some acne on my face again - not at all as bad as before the first round.

In my case, the answer is "yes" - your skin WILL start to produce oil again, perhaps not as much as before Accutane.
It's logic if you think of it - the side effects (chapped lips, etc) go away after you stop taking Accutane, so you also start to produce oil again.

My last full course was in 2003 - this winter I started to get mild acne on my back and chest again, and I'm currtently treating myself with low-dose Accutane purcased online.

This time (after two full courses) the acne on my chest and back responded to the Accutane in less than one week.

OK, I wanted to ask someone in a situation like yours (I'm on tane and worried that it won't be permanent)... Did you used to have pretty severe acne? or was it a little more mild? thanks if you can answer.

My acne was not very severe, it was moderate but resitant to other treatments.
I guess it was something like this:

I'm currently treating myself with low dose Accutane for VERY mild acne on back + chest (no derm in the world would prescribe Tane for that on my back and chest, I just don't accept ANY acne after being on Tane).

You should definaitely not use accutane which was admistrated in any other way besides by a licensed dermatologist. Accutane has the small chance of developing serious side effects and people should be monitored by a derm. while taking it. Not to mention it is illegal.

I used tane about 8 years ago, and I just recently was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis.... However, I will be starting tane again soon, because my acne never came back, but now I have hyper-keratization, which is a pain in my ass.....

hey guys does anyone know if the effects of accutane will work after I stop use. For example, I took my last tane pill last night and while I was on tane I never experienced dry flaky skin just mild chapped lips. I was wondering if I might get the flaky dry skin after use. Thanks guy:)

i had pretty mild acne ive been on accutane for 2 and a half months my face has improved MAJORLYY at first for about two weeks it did get alot worse but not to bad.. They said my face would get HORRIFICLY dry, but it wasnt to bad.. But, my lips are horribly chapped and nothing seems to help(its a small price to pay for a clear face..) Accutane really has been my miracle drug and helps alot!!

I was pretty freaked out when I stopped my first treatment, but it's been 2 months now off accutane, and my face still feels fine. No breakouts, and barely any oil.

yes. i have been diagnosed with crohns disease and ulcerative proctitis. the onset of symptoms was about 2years after i finished taking accutane. i have been off of accutane for 8 years now and my gastro symptoms are worse than ever. they get worse every year.

did anyone still use any topicals while on accutane and if so what did you use? Also, how soon did you see results or when does the accutane really kick in? Did everyone experience initial breakouts and when did they occur? Also, how soon will dryness stop after treatment? Does it work against stubborn bumps?

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
