How was you guys who finished accutane. Tell us what you went through and kinda what to expect. I'm really fustrated cuz accutane starts to clear my face almost all the way up and then I just get a new break out, but it goes away faster, but is so annoying to think that your face is cleared all the way up and then like 7 pimples attack your face and your right back 2 ground zero. Im in my third month now and want to know what you guys went through and where your at know.

Thanks, im sure everyone here will apreciate it.l

Hey man. I just finished my treatment yesterday. Throughout my course my acne stayed steady on my face and more so on my back. I was on 80mg a day for most the treatment but the last month of treatment i was upped to 120mg a day. I saw the best improvements yet, within the first week my back almost totally cleared up from being covered with 15 to 20 cysts...it just vanished, i didn't understand but i was totally thrilled. Although i think i was a lucky one in that sense, a lot of people would break out worse cause it's bringing alot more acne out faster. But after that it was only an uphill climb. Like i said i finished yesterday, and i still have two or three big ones on my back and a few red marks from past cysts but im seeing my derm soon to see if she'll put me on for another month to finish it off. If ur blood works fine id talk to ur derm about upping the dose, it was the best decision for me but definately consult with your derm! Good luck and it only gets better! just hold in there!

I was on accutane for 6 months...40mg to start with and 80mg for the last 2 or three months...my face was broken out until my dose was up to 80mg..then my face really started to clear up and by the last 2 months my face was perfect...coolest thing ever...only side effects I got were dry lips...I was so happy. About a month off of it though I started to break out again..really pissed me off...but not as bad as I ever did in the past. I might go on a second cycle later down the road...but accutane was great for me.

Yes..and one more thing...just hold in there..because the first 3 months sucked for me..but it got a lot better towards the end...even though I still break out after I'm off of it..it was worth it..the breakouts don't last long...but another side note..my brother took accutane a long time ago and hasn't broke out since he has been off of it which has been like 4 years...so it really worked for him..just depends on the person I guess.

Men that sounds good, but what type of breakouts do you get. Like nothing to be emberrased about or what. Cuz I'm getting real fucking confused and irratated. I been on 40 for about 3 months and next month im going to tell my der to bump it up to 80. It keeps giving me false hope and making me think that things are gonna get better and as soon as things are getting alot better the bumps just come and attack my face. Men I'm so confused and irratated.

Hey, Ryan, any success on the tolerance issue? I ask because all of a sudden while on the maintenance dosage even, my oil production increased greatly all of a sudden. And though, increased dosages seem to dry my skin the oil still continues to worsen...
Anyway, i am a 3 time accutane user, who like you went to a maintance dosage; for a while even i was down to 20mg every other day...then all of a sudden the sebum began to increase. However, like I said for about a year and 1/2 I did not take any breaks...no rush, just wondering if you have any insight on this. I can't find anything about this at all..

Men you will barely notice being on this drug. It has no bad effects on me what so ever except that I have to moisturize my lips all day. That's it. Everyone made it sound like the worst thing in the world, but it's nothing to me.

Before I took accutane I had cystic acne, but not terrible. When I got on accutane I got severe then I go through ups and downs almost litteraly. I almost get to clear skin then I get a break out. I had just recently got into a bad break out for some reason in my third month(Very irratating and confusing), but it's starting to kind of clear up. I been on 40m for 3 months and I am going to demand my derm boost me up, cuz I hear alot of good things once peps boost up there mg, so hopefully no more breakouts after that. I just want to know the experince of you guys being on accutane.

Who here got clear skin for a long time while on or done with accutane. Did you ever break out again, and If you did was it the terrible looking ones our really nothing that bad, and how many bumps would you usually have on your face at a time? Your answers will be apreciated.
Thanks

My skin cleared up so much more when my dosage was upped on accutane. Now that ive been done for awhile, if i do get any acne they're little bumps that dont even swell or turn red. you can just feel them and theyre gone within a day. Good luck with the uppage if u do end up doing it! it was the best thing for me throughout my course!

Hi All:
I have mild yet persistent acne. I'm 25 years old, take birth control (I thought my acne was hormonal and although birth control has helped, I still get breakouts- not cystic acne, but annoying acne nonetheless). I have tried every drug on the market except for accutane.
I'm scared to take it but my dermatologist recommended it right off the bat.
Has anyone with mild acne taken accutane? Would you recommend it? What were your experiences?
I know the accutane is prescribed according to weight and severity of acne. If I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs how much would I have to take and for how long?
I really, really appreciate your feedback!

I took it for 5 months. Chapped lips and dry skin were my only side effects. It worked, but it left me with some red marks (these would've been there with or without the accutane). However, after about 3 months the acne returned but not nearly as bad. I'm about to start a 2nd course though. Best of luck to you all.

Seriously, accutane is not something terrible. I was scared at first because people was talking about all these bad side effects which I haven't had any terrible side effects. Unless you concider chap lips terrible, but you should defiantly start instead of waiting till things get worser to go on accutane like I did. No biggie.

Thanks 4 those answers they give me hope in the drug. By the way things are looking real good again. For about the tenth time. PLease let this be the last of acne I see.

hi! i am on my 3rd dose of accutane, 10mg a day, still have ugly cystic ance, damn ugly to say. from wat i exp so far, face is dry and somehow it seems very slow to heal. but i notice that the red bumps take abt a week to heal, with red marks left behind. face gets dry, but wen i feel that somehow, subconsciously, the medicine is getting rid of the acne, i feel better. i think lets give ourselves some time, and i believe that our problem will disappear.

Lets support one another and stay positive!

Please advise. My nephew is 14 with increasing acne and all of the low self-esteem that comes with this. My sister is contemplating putting him on Accutane. I am worried because the side effects listed on the Isotretinoin site list possible stunting of growth. The stunting has been shown to take place in the "long" bones with the fusing of the growth plates in these bones. My nephew is already 6 feet tall, so I am not worried if his vertical growth is compromised. Frankly, I am worried about his skull and facial development because these bones continue to develop up through the early twenties. The skull has growth plates located in the sutures like the "long" bones. Further, birth defects related to Accutane show terrible microcephaly (which is the shrinking of the head). Please, have any of you who have taken Accutane in your teens continued to develop in the areas of your skull and facial bones? Have any of you been advised by your dermatologist that the stunting of the skull and facial development may be possible? I really must be assured by those who have experienced Accutane therapy. Thank you for any information you can give me.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Pisces

Relationships are kind of shaky under this Lunar Cycle and you may even get the distinct impression you're heading for a major showdown with a certain someone. Although this feels like a crisis, don't let panic or desperation push you into decisions you would normally steer clear of. You may think you've reached the end of the road, but this isn't a good reason to go off the deep end and make drastic decisions. Proceed with caution!
