Accutane taken years ago and pregnancy now

I took Accutane in 1989 when I was 28; best thing I ever did, since I suffered through acne in my teens that left scars. I did 4 mos. of 50 mgs and I never broke out again. Got pregnant at 35 (after infertility due to endometriomis). I have no idea if Accutane was contributing to my infertility, but I don't regret for a minute, my easy time with Accutane and clear skin. I was on birth control pills from 21-28 that cleared me up too, so that's another way (for gals) to clear up their skin, but then you're messing with hormones.

hi everyone,I had Accutane 9 months back ,now my skin looks more clear then before n i m very happy with the results.I am 25 yrs and i want to get pregnant but meanwhile, i m scared.Dr.Suggested me not to get pregnant atleast for 1 yr.If anyone can suggest me more then pls let me know what should i do ?

I took Accutane two different times, once for 3 months when I was 15 years old, and for 5 months at age 17. That was 20 years ago. I have been married for 3 and a half years and never taken birth control. I finally was able to get pregnant in September, but at my 20 week ultrasound, an abnormality was found and I was sent for a fetal echo. Sure enough, the cardiologist says there is a heart defect present in our baby boy. I do not know of anyone in mine or my husband's family with a heart defect. I can think of no other reason for all of this trouble than taking Accutane years ago. I wish I had never done it.

I am having the exact same issues! I, unfortunately let them take my gallbladder. Since then my symptoms have only gotten worse. I have IBS and endometriosis, severe fatigue and depression due to my constant bowel issues. I miss work because of the pain and embarasment. I was told I would never have kids but luckily my gyno did a surgery to remove ovarian cysts and he scraped some of the endometrial tissue off and I was pregers 3 months later. I am looking into legal help with this issue. I am not one to sue people but this is something that has been a problem for me for years and will haunt me the rest of my life. I dont want to get rich from it but I do want them to pay for my dr bills and surgery!

I just started accutane. After a week of being on it,,my skin is completely clear. A little dry, but nothing serious!! I feel no side effects except that my nose and throat are kind of dry! Everyone should stop freaking out. There are rare cases of terrible side effects with every drug, and thats a risk you have to be willing to take! This stuff works. I'd trade dry skin anyday for never getting a pimple again. A lot of my friends have taken this And are absolutely happy with their results- even 2 years later.

hello!! every buby... Im 20yrs. and i seffering with alots of acne i try many thng like acne cream etc etc but it cant effect on my acne..i starded simple treatment of acne concernd with the doc since 3 yrs but it cannot effect no good result nothing at all..Im feeling very imbarcng when i saw my face in the mirror, now im 2o doc recommend me to start acctane just for 3 month im very scare becoze i heards romur about acctane. plzzz... any bubytell shall i start taking acctane doze or not? after taking this it will effect on my pregnancy or not? i read previous commt n im soo worried...
plzzz give me some solution shall i start????

Belle, do not go on Accutane. No drugs are safe, sorry. You never know the long term side effects, and I don't believe doctors know either. I was on accutane twice throughout my 20's, and after both of those cycles, the acne returned. So what's the point of putting your health and the health of your future offspring at risk. What helped for me was drinking lots of filtered purified water from a high quality water filter and limiting my wheat, sugar, and conventional dairy.(skim milk especially). Stay away from soda and other processed foods. Also, the most effective skin care for my past oily acne prone skin are Daniel Kern products. Research it on the internet. I use the face wash and AHA treatment 2x per day. I use a a dab of his benzoyl peroxide sparingly just on little blemishes. It works awesome! My face is very clear now!! Please try these tips first before caving in to accutance. Your body and health will thank you!

Ive taken accutane 2 times..the effects wore off and my acne returnef after about 6months. Everytime I love it..my skin looks amazing when I take it andclears right up....I dont have any sideeffects just chapped lis a little while taking it. Thank god this mecication exists because my face and self esteem would be destroyed and I wouldnt be able to enjoy life. I also have two healthy children after accutane

Im 16 and i just finished taking my last dose, but im scared that i may have a deformed baby in 6 years. The side effects I've had was just dry lips, dry skin, and sometimes a little joint pains but idk if its just because I play sports. Does anyone know if you will still have birth defects after you finish taking accutane or any other terrible side affect. Im so Scared!!

My acne wasnt that bad but my mom and doctor kept recommending that I take it, someone please give me some answers.

the using of accutane in teenager any side effect of there pregnacy? my friend just started taking accutane just for 3 months she was now 21 yrs old if she plane to be pregnant after 4yrs,it effect any side effect on there pregnacy aftr 4 yrs ago????? plzzzz....any budy tell she was very scared...:(

How long do the effects of acetone last? Forever or not forever??

Ive been on Accutane for 7 months now and about to be weaned off it slowly in a month or so to see how my skin reacts. Ive had no side effects such as depression or joint aches, only the dry lips and inside my nose gets dry. I trust my dermatologist completely, he keeps me on the lowest dose 20 mg once a day. He did say that it isnt always a lifelong cure, and that some peoples acne can be cured forever while some peoples comes back within a few months or a yr or two. I think if you dont have a derm. who explained these things to you then maybe you need to find a new doctor. They should explain everything to you. Accutane can be very safe if taken in low doses. I have never been so happy and wish I found this dermatologist years ago! It has literally changed my life.

I'm 15 and I just stopped taking it today because of my deteriorating health. Taking it was a big mistake especially because my acne isn't that severe in fact most of it cleared within the 1st week but finishing the 6 month trial was required. I don't know my dose but it must be low. At first I was unaware of the side affects and was baffled how my whole life cchanged so quickly. extreme hair thinning and loss, thin peeling skin, dry skin, severly chapped lips, brittle nails, constant nose bleeds, my cuts aren't healing, unexplained bruising, unbelievable neck joint pain, unusual fatigue and weakness. I stopped because I've been sick in bed sleeping and in total agony (it's been 4 months) so while my self confidence has improved I'm unsure if I've ever been so sick before. So evaluate the side effects, I think acutane should be the last option. sorry this doesn't pertain to infertility at all, just a cautious warning
