My acne at the beginning got much worse, it was getting worse for a few weeks. But then it started getting better. I'm on the 6th month, I think, and now I don't have ANY pimple on my face. One year ago it was a disaster, I didn't wanna go outside because of my face. Now it's pretty fantastic. I have only some discolorations and "scars", I mean, my skin is not perfect, it's pretty worn-out, but it's gonna get better and better. After the treatment you can improve the skin for example by microdermabrasion, but AFTER THE TREATMENT. You have to be careful during it. The skin gets thinner, you can't get any tattoos or piercings. You can't drink alcohol either.
After the treatment your body is gonna get back to normal, but not in one moment. For example, you can start drinking after 6 weeks from the end of the treatment, and do microdermabrasion after 6 months.
So, you should be careful, just ask your doctor if you have any doubts and it's gonna be alright!
Goodluck, I wish you and your daughter the best!

Be patient. At first sometimes it gets worst, or sometimes u dont see changes. But keep doing it and u will see the excellent results! At first i was afraid because i thought that maybe taking only the oily-yellow liquid ( yes, we are talking about the same pill!), the effects wouldnt be as good as they should be. But it works. Maybe not in the first month. There is some people that gets better in the first weeks. in my case, i started to see the big change in the second month. Good luckkk and it will work perfectly i promisse!!:)

The stuff inside the gelcaps is accutane powder mixed with vegetable oil. Nothing magic about it.

I took my first course of Accutane back in the 80s. No online pharmacies back then, and I couldn't get a doctor to give me a prescription - they said my acne was only "moderate" instead of severe. So I bought the powder in pure form from Eastman Chemical -- they sold it as a dye for tunable dye lasers. Diluted it with vegetable oil in a blender and took it by the teaspoon.

So it worse comes to worst you can grind up your pills with Mazola. But my advice is to man up and force yourself to swallow them.

I'm just a mom worried about my son's skin. He has a very severe gag reflex and just panics if asked to take a pill. We have nothing else to try except Accutane. We have been crushing his antibiotics for 9 months and his acne is worse than ever. I'm just so lost in how to help him, should he try just sucking down the liquid in the accutane capsule? I don't want it to cause more damage to him to save his face.

Wow, has your son been on accutane for 9 months? You're only supposed to take it for 5 or 6 months. My daughter is now in her 3rd month and we are finally seeing results with her acne. Almost NO new breakouts now and the red scars are starting to diminish. Other than the dry skin and lips, occasional sore throat, she is doing just fine. She has never swallowed ANY of the pills, we actually poke a needle in the end of the capsule and squeeze the medicine into a pudding or a yogurt. Mix well, then follow with a full glass of water. We asked our doctor for a liquid form of the medicing when it was first prescribed, but told that it is not available that way. Good luck with your son and keep us "posted"!

My son is actually just taking an antibiotic (doryx) and has been for months with no improvement. The Dr. said we needed to give it time. Time is up and I believe he will be prescribed accutane next. He still can not swallow a pill without gagging so I guess he'll have to mix it up with pudding. Glad to hear that your daughter is improving. I just hope that my son can take the meds without adverse reactions. His next appointment is next Monday.

To Connie from Maine: Did you tell your daughter's Dr. that she squeezes out the liquid to take it? I am curious what her Dr.'s reaction to that was and if I should tell my son's Dr. that he'd have to mix the accutane with something to take it.

Yes, I have discussed this fact with her doctor. The doc said that was fine as long as it was mixed well and followed with water. The doc just wanted to make sure the medication does not stay in her esophogus, it needs to be "washed down" completely. I even called the manufacturer of the medication ~ of which all they did was quote the information to me directly from the label "this medication should be taken whole and swallowed with a full glass of water." All I can tell you is that she has not had any adverse effects from taking the Claravis this way for the past 3 months, and as you can see from all the folks on this post, this seems to be something that is quite common. I just really wish the manufacturer would comprise this medication in liquid form! By any means, discuss all of your concerns with your son's doctor and let us know how he is doing. I took Accutane as a teenager (25 years ago) and it was the ONLY thing that helped me, after years of antibiotics and over-the-counter remedies. At that age, it is devastating to have a face full of acne! Again, I am happy to report that in my daughter's 3rd month she is looking much, much better!:)

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
