I went on accutane June 2009-Dec. 2009. I was on 40mg the first two months, then 50mg the last 4 months. 3 months after getting off of it, I am getting little white heads everywhere. I went to a different dermatologist and he said my dosage was too low. I should have been on 80mg a day for 60 months considering my weight is 135 lbs. My sister was prescribed this amount, and her acne has not come back yet, and we are the same weight. I will be going back on accutane in May of 2010. He said the second course is usually half the time of the first, but since my dosage was so low, it will probably be the full 6 months again.

Don't be discouraged. My daughter had to do a second round. Her first one was at age 16 and the second at age 19. But probably should've started round 2 sooner. The Dr. says that the younger you are when you do your first round, the greater chance of your oil glands will kick back into action and make more zits. The second round should end it!

I have just started my third dose, every time has been the same, dry lips very dry skin, dry eyes = more time wearing glasses, and occasionally dry mouth. I have had slight hair loss but it starts growing back as soon as i stop the medication. The problem is my acne starts reappearing like magic exactly 6 months after I stop my last dose. Before I started my third round my doctor mentioned starting Spironolactone which is a blood pressure medication shown to help hormonal acne. If this round does help ( I have done the full 6 months on the last two at 80mg a day) then I will probably try the other. The only problem is it is not taken in cycles and I will have to continue to take it. The effects are also not as promising as accutane. My acne is stubborn but relatively mild when it returns but my unfortunate habit of picking at the uncomfortable and at times painful bumps leaves my skin looking worse leading to my need to have flawless skin that I achieve while on accutane. If you have worse side effects on accutane and it does not improve after two cycles, Spironolactone may be a better alternative.

I was on accutane for 6 months, but now a few months after, I am breaking out again. It started off not bad and I occasionally got a few pimples. Now, I am breaking out everyday and I'm getting especially red pimples by my nose that don't seem to go away. It isn't as severe as the last time I had acne, but still it is really noticeable and my skin has always been oily which makes it way worse and harder to get rid of. I'm supposed to see the dermatologist next week. Even if it isn't as severe as last time, will a dermatologist allow you to go on it again? I really want to go on it again because it worked so well the first time!

i'm in the same exact position youre in. and i am praying my derm lets me back on accutane. it was incredibility hard to convince him the first time to give me accutane so do you think hell be more lenient the second time? please let me know if your derm prescribes you accutane again. thanks :)

So I've taken accutane once already, and I'm wanting to go back on my second dosage because I'm getting all my acne back again, but my question to all you is, is it all going to be like the first time? While taking this drug, will I get horrible acne for awhile because I can't use any other topicals, or will my acne go away immediately after starting? Or does acne appear right away or something??How does the second dosage usually feel?

Hey everyone.. I'm 16 years old, female.. I went on Accutane for the first time in October 2009. I went for about 5 months, and I had great skin up until about August 2010 or so. Before Accutane, I had horrible acne on my face, my chest, and my back. Kinda sucks when you're a 13 year old girl going into high school with what I called "freckles" just because I was too embarrassed to call it acne. I couldn't wear tank tops or anything showing more than my neck, and i had to apply powder to my face about every hour because it was too oily. Anyways, I went on Accutane when I'd just had ENOUGH of this frickin problem, and it worked greatly. Then I started freaking out a little when I got the occasional pimple and my skin got oilier.. Now it's January 2011 and my acne is back. I keep breaking out with huge zits by my jawline, forehead, nose... and my back and chest feel bumpy again. It's the most depressing feeling in the world, and my family members don't understand how much it hurts me. I'm starting Accutane for the second time in February, and I really hope the effects last longer than they did the first time. I don't want to rely on this drug each year to get rid of my acne. I wish I could be reborn or something and have perfect skin. I'd give anything, really.

I have been on accutane three times, did the trick
each time. Problem is some people have way oily skin long after adolescence so cystic acne persists. In my humble hack opinion accutane dosages could be alot lower ( to avoid side effects ) yet still do the job. Think about it you are trying to reduce the oil levels in your skin to NORMAL levels not overeacte drying yur skin to the piont where it has no oil. The flip side of this is that maybe for some accutane ( Vitamin A ) dosages maybe necessary for 10 or 20 years. It seems to me that small dosages of excess Vitamin A on a daily basis is going to be less harmfull than huge doses for a 3 or 5 month period.?

Stay strong and remember that you are not alone. Good luck with your next treatment, btw it's not really a drug just synthetic vitamin A just means because of a quirk of fate your body needs more vitamin A than the average person.

I started accutane when I was 15, and continued with it for six months. I can honestly say that it worked miracles, completely wiping out any existing pimples- and I had sever acne. My derm started me off with yazmin, birth control, and she said that the pill mixed in with accutane for girls would be more effective, and she was right! I stayed clear for a year and a half- the best year and a half of my life. Unfortunately it's coming back bit by bit, and although its not as bad as it was before, its very annoying since im now used to having flawless skin. Im getting tiny pimples on my forehead, as well as large ones on my cheeks that come and go but are still pretty persistant. Going on round to hopefully!

I took it for 5 months. Lasted a year and a half. I'm about to start it again with a smaller dosage. It's different for everyone. It could never come back or it could in a year. But I can assure your face will look perfect after taking it for about 5 months

I've tried both original brand and generic accutane. I prefer generic accutane - There is no difference in effectiveness as far as I can tell between the brand and generic versions. The real difference is price, no comparison. And this suppliers seem honest and reliable. On the site http://z-isotretinoin.info I've just placed my 3rd order.

Hey! I'm currently 24 yrs old and went on accident when I was 20 going on 21. My first round lasted for about 3yrs and o now have it full blown again!! So depressing for me. I'm constantly around ppl with my job and it feels as though everyone is starring at it ALL the time. My doctor and I are trying a few more things before we give it another go. I'm nervous and not so sure if I should do it again. It's so harmful to the body. Any thoughts or advice??
