=I

I have been on Accutane for 6 weeks and I noticed weight gain the second week. It's only 6-7 pounds but I can not loose it and none of my cloths fit me. My doctor says it shouldn't.

@ Gina:

'only' six pounds?

That is a pound per week. I have lost weight on accutane, so maybe you should have a look at your lifestyle, maybe something has changed...

Maybe it's because you are on birth control now (hormones) and it's affecting your weight/ way of eating!

Good Luck.

Neither. I put on weight, but that was because I was going to the gym 3 times a week + protein. Then I lost it when I stopped going to the gym.

Neither,
I started excercising more, lost the first week, gained the next, and have been losing since, but thats cause I changed my eating habits and excercise, cause I'm super excited about my skin so what a rounded complete stunning look when I'm done. I love this stuff

just go to the gym and eat right and youll lose weight/ get in shape. accutane doesnt make a huge difference either way, your weight is what you make of it. it might make you lethargic and gain weight by not moving alot but thats it i think

I was on Accutane and lost a large amount of weight, it was definitely from the drug too, because I ate ALL the time, and as soon as I got off it I gained it all back!

did any of you have a flare up worse than when you began the accutane. What mean is..once you started accutane, week one, your skin was bad...did it get worse before better? And if so, how long until it gets noticably better?

i feel fat as hell on accutane. this is my 6th week on it and i've pretty much stopped going to the gym (i used to go 2-3 times/week). to be honest, i'm not even taking birth control like how i'm supposed to (because i'm not having sex!), so i know it's not from hormones. i think accutance has made me sloth-like. i don't feel like moving rapidly lol, if that makes any sense. almost feels like i'm kinda dragging my body around. no, i am not depressed. thoughts anyone? i like what someone said about accutane exciting them so much that they're doing an all-around clean up of their exterior by working out more. that's pretty motivating!

yes, i got worst flare-ups before and it kinda looks the same as when i first received the medication. i'm going to try and be patient and just wait for my skin and accutane to do their thing.

also, my cholestrol went up about 40 points! i was at around 190 and it went to 230! i'm nervous about that. though at the time, i did read some INCORRECT information that fatty foods help you absorb it better so the red meat and egg yolks came into my diet. i've since cut them out so hopefully it's been lowered.

my doctor said to cut down majorly on fatty foods that contain cholestrol especially.

has anyone else felt like a fat, lazy slob on this medicine?

well I'm only on my third week of accutane and I've expierienced weight gain and I'm always craving food, even when I'm not hungry. I'm taking 60 mgs a day, im 14, and I did weigh 120 lbs. now I weight 128 lbs :( I am going through some extreme self-hate issues right now. I pledged abstinence so I'm not on any birth control...*sigh* what do I do?

I feel that accutane has totally made me gain weight. I feel the better I eat and the more I workout (3 times a week...the more I gain. Hmmm...that doesnt' make a whole lot of sense. What do you think? I feel like stopping it but I've already done 2 months. 3 more months to go and then i will be finished. I spoke to my doctor about it and I was told that it does not make you gain weight but Im beginning to believe it does because I feel like I'm getting bigger and bigger...my clothes aren't fitting the same either.

I am on my 2nd round of accutane. first time around i didn't gain any weight and had almost no side effects, other than headaches. This time around I seem to be making up for lost time: the headaches were awful, but have subsided, though I am gaining weight (I am almost obsessive about what I eat and working out, but to no avail), I'm having bad pain in my hip and mood swings...but it's the only thing that helps my skin. It was amazing the first round, but then slowly my acne came back. I had to talk my doctor into doing another round-I'm 2 months in, on 80 mg a day and it's finally starting to work-but my skin has been bad for the last few months. It's all so humiliating-I'm 36, which just adds to the problem-but I think my skin has finally turned to corner and I'm starting to see the results I want. I've got to stick with this and hope for the best, b/c I've tried everything else.
