Hi all, I have been on Accutane for 2 weeks now. Prior to Accutane, I worked out daily. Mostly running or strength training in the am and a hike in the afternoon. Now, it's all I can do to get through my morning workout. Is this common? Will it go away? I take my 40mg dose in the am. Should I switch it to pm?

i got it too. i lift often and for the first time i got a splitting headache, threw up and felt like i couldnt keep my eyes open after a moderate workout session. Im sure it will go away after all is done. and i still lift and it hasnt happened again.

Be careful with any strenuous exercise when on Accutane. I found my joints hurt and in fact my left elbow locked up until i started taking Glucosamine Sulphate and came off the tablets after my course.
If you have any trouble with your joints, try Glucosamine Sulphate, works wonders. I would definitely devise an easier workout for when on accutane as it can seriously cause problems afterwards. A heads up more than a scare story

Oh also, try taking accutane the same time everyday for the duration of your course, and the lethargy is very common from my knowledge, and does go away when off the tablets. Cut down the exercise generally to save your joints though :D

You know I thought it was just me with that problem. I get up at 5 am every morning for my workout and I have found that there are some mornings that I am so tired that I just go back to bed. I am tired all through out the day to. I cant wait will this feeling goes away cause it is a part of my lifestyle to workout and I feel horrible during the days that I dont make it to the gym. Does anyone have any suggestions.

lindsey! i have the same issue and it is HORRIBLE. i used to work out for like an hour and a half daily and now if i work out 2 times a week i am thrilled with myself. this has really done a number on not only my weight but my endorphin level ya know? i am just so exhausted by simply being AWAKE ( even if i don't do any sort of activity throughout the day) i just hope to GOD that when i get off this medicine in 19 days that the back and joint pain go away and i finally have energy again. i really want to get back to working out -- i swear it keeps me sane!

Albert,
You will need to let me know if the pain goes away and the energy comes back and how long. I cant wait till I can get a good workout in again. I feel like a big lump. I am not over weight by any means but when you dont workout you feel very frumpy.

I have found that if I have a energy drink in the morning before my workout that I feel much better during it and also during the day. Do you think that is a problem. I take my pill about an hour after that. what do you think. thanks

haha i always have red bull or some other cheap alt every morning on a work day, even when i dont work out jus to help wake up quicker! i think it become a bit of a problem for me cuz i feel quite tired without them, like i've become dependant on them! i do LOVE red bull though, seriously think i'm addicted! to play it safe i'd distance your pill taking as much as possible from caffine consumption just as you would from alcahol, your liver might not take too kindly to it you see.

hey i know what you mean about the eyes and dizziness. it is like that feeeling when you sit on the couch too long and then finally stand up and have like tunnel vision and start tipping all over the place. but it happens allll the time. i also have a really hard time getting my eyes to focus because everything is just so blurry. i hope to GOD this goes away after i come off the meds... i only have about 1 more week, my last appointment is the 21st of jan. i am SO excited. i'll keep you guys posted :)
