I just started 2omg roacutane..ive been on it for almost 4wks, experienced the dry lips, dry skin, soar joints and nose bleed..but my acne isnt getting worse like most people say it does to them. I never had bad acne to start off with just the few here and there on my back and face and alot of blackheads...i havnt had any pimples since i started but still the blackheads and redness of my skin. If it doesnt get worse does this mean its not working? Or is everyone different with the effects.i know i have to be patient and it gets better but has anyone had this same experience to? Thnx
Hi,

Im also on accutane and have been on it for 3 weeks now. no inital breakout for me...and I dont feel as if my skin is drying at all. just my lips. Im thankful i do not have the initial :-)breakout....but like you, im wondering if this is working too :-( Im seeing the derma in a few days. Will ask him. Hey, are you also getting problems in concentration? I think i am...but this could be in my head.

just writing because i was reading these forums like crazy before and and in the beginning of my accutane treatment. i'm 4 months in right now, and seeing great results.

i have always had acne since i was 14 (now im (24). finally this year i decided i needed it badly. my acne blew up, out of control early this year and i decided i couldnt live like this. my face had 40+ pimples, mostly cysts. my back was pretty bad too. it was one of the worst cases that you would see anyone with in public.

anyway, i was seriously worried after 2 months that this wasnt going to work because i had barely noticed any difference. then 2 and half months in my skin became completely clear just over a few days. my self esteem is back, i feel much more confidant than i have in the last few years.

of course i have red marks and scars but they are healing quickly. also, there's plenty of ways to treat them according to my derm. but just the fact that the acne has stopped makes me feel 80 percent better.

i never write on forums but promised myself i would if accutane worked. it is, absolutely no signs of depression, quite opposite in fact. stay with it, give it time, it will make your life much better, in terms of appearances, and if they are important to you - this is the drug to take.

dry lips and dry skin for 6 months are nothing compared to having acne for years to come.

also, i used to have constant greasy face, that is gone, and according to my derm - its not coming back for a long time.

so fuck acne, dont let it take over your life and confidence.

I see my derma at the end of september.. Like i said ive never had very bad acne no cysts etc but i did break out here and there and my skin always red my back has the most problem lots of little pimples and blackheads...the pimples have gone =) just waiting for the blackheads to dissapear! Most ppl hav said they dissapear themselves. I feel very normal i dont hve all the bad side affects like others get.
I cant wait to see end results and have amazing skin and enjoy a summer wearing singlets and backless dresses and swimming costume, something i have never done as i felt grosse if i did.
My face isnt even oily nomore =) it use to be very bad especially my forehead atleast i know my makeup doesnt melt on my face!

To me roacutane is working but very slowly maybe cse i dont have it as bad as others theres not much to clear up , but i know eventually ill get the glowing skin i been wanting for yrs!=)

Stef if your acne is not bad, then you prolly wont break out...many people dont break out at all, some get clear within afew weeks or can notice a great change. when i had some mild persisted acne yrs ago and i took accutane, i didnt break out at all, i saw the pimples crusting over day by day it was like wow! i did however have dry lips/skin. so truss me it is working for you. those who break out always seem to have severe acne, so those breakouts will come cause it takes a month for it to come to the surface, these people think cause they have started the pill, it will stop everything right in its tracks! not true

I was on Accutane years ago, and it workded great. I did a 5 month treatment. 40mg. I had no acne for 8 years. Then when I turned 30, I got my acne back. I have now been on it again for 4 months 60mg and my acne is now gone again. My dern wants me to do 1 more month, but I don't think I'm going to because 2 weeks ago I went deaf in the right ear "sudden hearing loss". They said I had nerve damage and significant hearing loss in that ear. They gave me steroid pills and a steroid injection in my ear, and my hearing came back. Thank God! All the doctors say it was not from the accutane, that it could have been from anything. But I'm not going to take that chance. I am hoping my acne will stay gone. I'm just going to try a muti vitamin with A in it. And oil of oregano and olive leaf to kill any infection. If I do go on accutane again, I will not take 60mg, I will only take 40mg.

I broke out BAD the first 2 months I was on it. Both times. My derm said it was normal for it to get worse because it was squeezing out all the oil.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Taurus

Get involved in financial transactions at your peril under today's Lunar Eclipse, because certain people will use them as a stick to beat you with. For instance, if you ask someone to lend you money they'll either make you feel guilty about it or dredge up all sorts of past instances when their trust was betrayed. You would also be well advised to avoid any show of possessiveness or jealousy, even if you feel it, unless you truly don't care about the disastrous outcome.
