In my experience...
Carmex- 1/10
Vaseline- 3/10
Blistex- intensive moisturiser- 5/10 ok for quick relief
Nivea- 3/10
Chapstick- 2/10
Elizabeth Arden 8 hr- 5/10
Eucerin- 4/10

BURTS BEES= WINNER 10/10!!!!!

You can get it from Boots, about £3-£4. Oil based product. I've been through 2 already.

My lips were bleeding, chapped, sore-ridden, peeling, red etc and this did the trick for me.

Eat fish and drink water too guys.

Muchos love x

I found the miracle cure that actually works, when nothing else will!!!
I know this is a late response but thought it might help somebody in a future search.
I started my 2nd round of accutane about a month ago and I knew I was going to have a battle with dry lips. I've always had dry lips, accutane certainly don't help, and this 2nd round is 3x my original dosage. So, that being said, I went on a mad frenzy trying to find a true miracle. I tried every chapstick there is (until I realized the concept of chapstick won't help at all. It's to keep moisture in, when accutane completely takes oil out of your body so you don't have anything there to keep in to begin with), I tried vaseline, I tried lotions and oils.
But, finally I seen someone post (I don't know if it was this forum or somewhere else.. I read a million) "the one": Lansinoh HPA Lanolin- cream for sore nipples for breastfeeding moms. It works!
It's a little thick so I slowly started on it at night, now I've got to where I can put it on 2-3x a day, then use a carmex or vaseline lip treatment the rest of the time in between and my lips are smoother than ever from all this pampering!
I understand the miserable factors of accutane, even though if you're like me, you think they're well worth it in the end. And, I just really hopes this will help someone else like it did me!

Hi there,

The only thing that truly worked for my chapped lips was Burts Bee Wax. I tried lots, and this only made them better and didn't fix them. I also found drinking 3 liters of water / day helped.

I was worried I woudl always have dry lips as you read this can happen. The good news is they were 60% back to normal after a week of coming of it. And about 90% after two weeks. A month on and they are fine.

My hair felt thin and lifeless. This takes longer to come back to normal. A month on and its about 50% back to normal but gradually getting better.

I used 'Bull Dog' moisturizer which you can get in the UK which was good for my skin.

I had red eyes in the first month and this went by the second.

I used to check these message boards weekly when I was on it so I know how you all feel.

But for me it looks good - one month off. I only started breaking out completely in 5th out of 6 month but skin is not far of flawless now and I've not had a spot in two months.

So for me,[touch wood], I can say its been worth it and am grateful of the results.

All the best,

Jimbo

Lip balms by The Pure Apothecary are miracles! I'm on Accutane and they keep my lips moisturized and soft! Plus, they are 100% natural and use organic oils and butters! I got my first as a gift. Www.thepureapothecary.com

Just wanted to add to the LypSyl comments. Im on a cycle now and seriously after 1 day my lips are 9/10 normal. Even friends saw the difference.
I bought it(LypSyl) when I couldn't find aquaphor at Walmart.

I'm on my fourth day of Accutane, I bought a few tubes of Blistex, doesn't help me at all. I work at a spa, and one of the aestheticians told me that there is a difference between chap stick and lip moisturizers (which I didn't know :P). Chap stick is meant to lock moisture in, and as Laura already mentioned, Accutane takers don't have moisture in the first place. So it's important that if you're on Accutane, you use a Lip Moisturizer, not chap stick.
What is a lip moisturizer? Can you give me a brand?

I've tried both original brand and generic accutane. I prefer generic accutane - There is no difference in effectiveness as far as I can tell between the brand and generic versions. The real difference is price, no comparison. And this suppliers seem honest and reliable. On the site http://z-isotretinoin.info I've just placed my 3rd order.
