hello my fellow accutane takers. what lip balm & chapsticks do is lock in moistures, but accutane takers are getting chapped lips because of a lack of oil, not moisture. i had began using jojoba oil on my lips and it never ever chaps anymore, i would apply it whenever i need it with a glass roller i got from bodytime, the glass roller is great, you can fill it up with anything, moist people use it as a perfume roller. i'm sure you can find it at beauty shops as well. the jojoba oil i use is dessert essence, i found it at trader joe's. i sometimes use vitamin E oil because it stays put longer, but jojoba oil is the closet oil to human sebum. please let me know if it works for you. photo of jojoba oil: http://tbn0.google.com/images... photo of roller: http://www.evitamins.com/images/products/jojo...

i use aquaphor and i swear it works wonders.
It is kind of like vaseline but thinner and comes in a tube. You can buy it any drugstore or the grocery store.

Aquaphor, and you might need a lip exfoliator to get rid of all the dead skin. Easiest way is to load on the chapstick/aquaphor and rub your lips gently with a dry toothbrush. It's cheap and easy!

It is made by Eucerin and if it's on the shelf, it should be with the lotions. If you have a Walmart or a Target, try there.

I actually used it for my son's diaper rash. It reminds you of vaseline. I am on day 12 of my accutane and so far it has worked miracles for me. I put it on at night and then during the day as well. It comes in a large jar and then they also sell a tube like size too. Try asking your dermatologist for samples. Mine gave me a couple of purse sized samples.

It should take you directly to the aquaphor page. If not type aquaphor in the search box and it will take you there. You can order it on line and have it shipped. Plus it looks like they have the smaller tubes that are nice to carry in your pocket or purse. http://www.drugstore.com/search/search_result...

Blistex was suggested to me by a retarted pharmacy worker and the shit probably wouldant even work if i wasent on the drug! it tastes like cynaide and is as thick as water; so not only does it do sweet F All but i dont even feel for afew seconds that it has rewarded me somehow! waste of time, money and its that shocking that i think its even a waste of human resources... blistex sucks.

Hey I use CO Bigelow - My Favoite Lip Balm. You can get it at Bath & Body Works. It works wonders - I bought several, I keep one at work and in my purse. I put it on Am and PM and several times during the day.

This is a great idea, thanks Laura. I have been using jojoba but couldn't figure out a way to take it to work or out with me. The glass roller is a fab idea, thanks for posting it!:) laura wrote: hello my fellow accutane takers. what lip balm & chapsticks do is lock in moistures, but accutane takers are getting chapped lips because of a lack of oil, not moisture. i had began using jojoba oil on my lips and it never ever chaps anymore, i would apply it whenever i need it with a glass roller i got from bodytime, the glass roller is great, you can fill it up with anything, moist people use it as a perfume roller. i'm sure you can find it at beauty shops as well. the jojoba oil i use is dessert essence, i found it at trader joe's. i sometimes use vitamin E oil because it stays put longer, but jojoba oil is the closet oil to human sebum. please let me know if it works for you. photo of jojoba oil: http://tbn0.google.com/images... photo of roller: http://www.evitamins.com/images/products/jojo...

I'm on my fourth day of Accutane, I bought a few tubes of Blistex, doesn't help me at all. I work at a spa, and one of the aestheticians told me that there is a difference between chap stick and lip moisturizers (which I didn't know :P). Chap stick is meant to lock moisture in, and as Laura already mentioned, Accutane takers don't have moisture in the first place. So it's important that if you're on Accutane, you use a Lip Moisturizer, not chap stick.

We got Nivea with spf 4. It is a blue tube. I have to get the exact name of it. My son has tried a lot (though we haven't been able to find aquaphor) and he likes this one - said "it's amazing!"

I've been applying neosporin morning and night. I was looking up remedies online and a website suggested it because it has oil, petrolatum, and the antibiotics to prevent infection if your lips are cracking badly (the left corner of my mouth is cracked open half the time). So far it keeps my lips moisturized most of the day and I do touch ups with carmex while out and about. Also, when they start to feel dry they aren't all gross and flaky.
