I also got pregnant while taking the Nuva ring. I had always been on the patch.. for 7 yrs, no problems or pregnancies. I left the Nuva Ring in for a few extra days due to a blood clotting disorder I have. Then I took it out. Within 24 hrs of taking it out, BOOM! Pregnant! Before the ring, we'd been trying, nothing happened for the 4 months we tried. So we decided maybe timings not right, we'll try again in a year or so after we tie up some loose ends. My copay for the patch was $50 so I had the Dr. call in the ring cuz it was only $30. I didn't like it from day one. After 2 wks it started falling out. During my period unidentifiable gross stuff came out. Keep in mind I have an 11 yr old n 9 yr old, so I've seen a lot. Never that though! Also keep in mind it took 6 mos to conceive my daughter n 1 1/2 yrs for my son. SO I guess if u want to get pregnant go on the Nuva Ring!

I took Nuvaring for 10 years until I had my first negative experience. I am NOT a smoker and have not had any recent surgery. I was very short of breath and I thought I had a cold or lung infection and went to the hospital last week. The ER doors found large amounts of blood clots in both lungs (PE's) and both legs (DVT's)! I am very lucky to be alive right now. I have been on blood thinner shots for the last week and will take thinners for at least a year from now. This has been so scary for myself and my family.

I quit using the NuvaRing and I wish I had done so sooner. During my short (3 month) time using it, I experienced frequent migraines, and I ordinarily don't have headaches at all. Also, I was depressed and unmotivated, gained weight, but most disturbingly, developed random bruises on my legs that appeared without my having injured myself. This disappeared after I quit using the ring. Also, my first period after using the ring was extremely heavy and tissue-filled (very unusual) and led me to wonder if in fact I had miscarried. I recommend that other women AVOID THIS PRODUCT! I am 30 years old, and am in otherwise great health. This ring made my life miserable. Also, my doctor actually gave me a hard sell on the Nuva Ring, telling me all about its so-called "benefits" (skipping periods, lighter bleeding, etc.)... leaving me to wonder if it's being marketed so heavily to doctors that they are getting a financial kick-back. But that's purely speculation.
This is amazing. I had the exact same experience I had. Week 1 and 2 were great. Week 3 a terrible headache, week 4 terrible cramps. Experienced some hot flashes, dizziness and nausea. I took it out after week 5. That was last night and today, zero symptoms.

Michelle- I've been telling my friends the same thing!

I recently found out I am pregnant and conceived on the NuvaRing. I was on it for about 5 years without and the only issue I had was Migraines... Like many, I know how to use it (and have been using it) correctly.

When I called the company to report the lack of effect, they told me "Congratulations."

Umm, if I was trying to get pregnant, I would not have been on any birth control in the first place....

4 weeks after having my baby my doctor gave me Nuvaring, my headaches started the next day and after 10 days of terrible headaches I had a stroke. I had a blood clot in the right side of my brain. While I was in the ER I had a seizure they had to give me CPR to reestart my heart. 31 year old and never smoked. It was so sad not to be home with my baby. I had to stop nursing and thankfully the baby took the bottle and formula right away.

I am 23 married with a 2 yr. Old girl. I have been on the nuva ring for 3 months. I feel like my heart beat is erratic & beats faster than normal, also been having shortness of breath. I did get a few bad migranes. when i donated plasma last my blood was clotting bad & the flow was not good & when they opened the compartment on the machine where it seperates your plasma from your blood you could see alot of blood clots & when they pulled out the needle a big clot of blood came out with it. I have never had that problem before & just thought it was clotting because i was on my period. Luckly i saw a comercial on tv about lawsuits against the nuva ring which led me to this site, now i've taken it out. I just hope it hasnt caused any permanent damage. Ive been taking advil, asprin would be good to it will help thin out your blood.

had my ring in for less than 24 hours, just crawled home feeling extremely nauseous, fevery, head-ahce and overall just BAD. i had inquired a lot with my doctor about side effects and she pretty much just said they were very mild. i did not like the idea of taking a drug, AND i am not ready to have a child right now, so it seemed like a better option. when i got home, i googled "nuva righg actural testimonies" and am so grateful to all of you women for posting here and sharing. i took it out an hour or so ago, and i swear, my nausea is gone my headahce is lightening and i only feel mildly icky as opposed to wretched!!! i am disappointed and hope that even in the 24 hours i did not do too much harm to my body.

I just started my third package all the while researching all kinds of vascular disease and not even thinking it could be the ring. I started getting headaches thought that may be a symptom but forgot it for my fainting. In the last month o
I've gone down at least five times. My legs just drop and I immediately recover. I know its happening enough I try and catch myself. I'm lethargic. I just kept thinking the blood just isnt flowing fast enough. I was going with postural hypotension?I just read these and went to take it out. Really scared that I may have been close to a clot or stroke.

EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT REACTION TO NUVARING! Some women are perfectly fine using this birth control method. Other women have many complications, and I have deep empathy for their situations. Just please remember that your body is unique, and one person's experience is entirely different from another. Do not hate on NuvaRing! If it doesn't work for you, then find another method that does.

Awareness is important! But don't be feel threatened after reading an unfortunate experience. Moral of the story is..... do what is best for you; speak with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns; know that your situation is unique because your genes are different!

the problem is.....you don't know if it won't work for you until it screws you up - we are just trying to warn women/girls that it's a lot more serious problem than the drug makers are making it out to be. They include this "generic" warning that you see in all birth control but Nuvaring has a higher incidence of PE's and DVT's than any other kind out there. I know because I'm a 42 yr old, healthy non-smoking woman who has never had not one health problem until Dec 21 when i was forced to go to the ER by my doctor - they put me in ICU for 2 days then i spent another week in the hospital with 4 PE's (one in each quadrant of my lungs) and another DVT in my right leg. I was loaded up on blood thinners and told i was VERY LUCKY that my doctor FORCED me to go the ER because if i hadn't i probably would've died within 2 or 3 days. Now I'll be on blood thinners for at least a year - I was on the same BC pill for 25 years with zero problems & had an ultrasound of my legs prior to being put on Nuvaring because of a painful vein - at that time i had no DVT's at all - shortly after that I had a CT scan of my lungs/chest bc of a car accident - no PE's then - I switch to Nuvaring & 1.5 yrs later all of this! It's strange to me that this PE's, strokes, DVT's are the only side effects people are complaining about & yet they issue such a generic warning for it. I'm totally surprised the FDA hasn't pulled it already - how many people have to have a serious adverse event before they do?

I think it is strange that we blame these companies for side effects of a man-made medicine, that is obviously not one hundred percent harmless, and we act like these problems were forced upon us. But is it not our own responsibility to practice abstinence?? Come on. If you are going to take the risk of having sex, then you must also understand that there is a chance of pregnancy. With any medication, you should understand that there are risks. You made that choice. Clearly you didn't anticipate the side effects you encountered but take responsibility for your own decisions.

My partner got an extremely bad migraine for around 10 days around 3 months into using it. She passed away from a massive stroke around 8 months after starting it. The doctors did not blame it but I always had my doubts, which are only strengthened by this site. She was 25, non smoker, no history and was fit till the day she died.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
