ADHD drug shortage

As a matter of documented fact, those who take sympathememetics do NOT take half the dosage the prescriber wishes. When taken as prescribed, usually 20 Mg. t.i.d. of Adderall ( 1 Tb. Q6h ) it is extremely efficattous for ADD/ADHD as well as adjunctively for bi-polar, recalcitrant Tx difficult depression not amenable to SSNI's, SSRI's ETC. Addiction is not comparable to meth or "ICE". Those with the propensity to increase dosage levels five fold- or prior abuse are more prone to addictive behaviors. Smoking or IV use increases the > indicated initiative to use it as a aid for fatigue. The savvy correct Pt. knows titration as directed is the key.

Addendum: President Obama yesterday signed a Executive Order calling for cooperation between HHS, FDA, DOJ, as well as those in law enforcement to streamline the output and alottment to increase to over 15 thousand Kg. per annum of Adderall.the supply of cancer, antipsychotic injectables, and many others the current supply chains CANNOT keep pace with the critical need.

Adderall long acting formulas are more likely to be in shorter supply. Immediate release are prefered by adults. They are more apt to take as directed. Usually one 20 Mg Tb. Q4h. ( one Tb. Early AM , one at noon and one at 3-4 PM. Adults rarely abuse the dose as they know it MUST last until the next Rx.

I just got prescribed Adderall, since I'm taking more classes than I was(and the Ritalin I had been on awhile back gave me tics. Maybe this won't). I didn't have a problem getting it.

I think you should not be taking any of these drugs, learn to manage your lives. Work is hard, but the reward for not taking meds is huge. All of these meds are bad for you.

. one ounce of previous PREVENTION is worth a ton of disease treatment with NO cure.

There is no "prevention" for ADHD.

I hope they do not prescribe Paxil to this sort of depression due to drug shortage. I believe Paxil is not the proper medication for ADHD. Moreover, Paxil causes severe side effects that have prompted a lot of lawsuits.

It's not immpossible to substitute. Insurance is cutting back . Nuvigil and Provigil offer some relief. But too expensive, Phendimedrazine, 120 mg q4h could also be of help. Desoxyn is three times more strong tan 20 mg Adderall. Call around , save gas.

Paxil is ineffective and a waste of time. I figured it would be enough to give the Strattera pills a try and I was quite satisfied with the result.

Different drugs as you know effect everyone somewhat differently. Just because a certain Rx is NOT controlled does NOT mean it is innocuous. Certain narrow therapeutic index drugs like digitalis glycosides or anticoagulants may prove lethal within I tablet increase or be highly toxic at even so called safe levels. Levels MUST be monitored regularly. Ask if this is not being done. Always ask for package insert and ask for medication management from your RPh.
