You will find junk science in just about every study conducted to implement more regulation on the people.
Take for example the spay or neuter ordinance that our county is considering, it will effectually turn thousands of people into people who will potentially owe a fine to the county all based on junk science and monetary gain for the county.
when in reality it is their policies and costs for adoption that causes them to have many animals to put down.
If you want people to adopt it shouldn't cost them more than 100 dollars to do it, I know the cost I have stated is accurate because it cost me close to 150.00 to adopt a puppy from the county animal control pound.
junk science at it's best!
Good example! It would be good if all pet owners would look at over-population as the result of doing nothing. I think municipalities should first try urging pet owners to control the pet population to a manageable number, making an ordinance unnecessary. Then make an ordinance if the request for population control doesn't pan out. Which is happening in Otero county. I have an adopted female dog, spayed for $50, who doesn't appear to mind all that much.

Out where I live there are also feral dogs that are not only a nuisance.

I see the article as being part journalistic scare-manship and part real warning of real dangers. I think laws against driving while intoxicated by any substance are good and right. It would be different if the victims of drunk and stoned driving only impact the driver, but often there are passengers and bystanders affected. I see this as a legitimate use of government.
I like what they did with tobacco products. They didn't make them illegal, but rather used education, resulting in a 50% drop of tobacco use over a 20 year period. Another legitimate use of government in my opinion. The downside was that the tobacco corporations moved their efforts to third world countries. Where we might differ in opinions is that I don't think corporations should be allowed to harm the environment or people in doing their business. At the beginning of corporate charters, corporations were required to be good neighbors and good environmentalists. And they still made a good profit.
Don't forget that fact that government now collect a huge amount of money on taxes from cigarettes, you would be remiss and subject to junk science if you left out the revenue that is collected from regulation of cigarettes that costs smokers a few bucks a pack that goes where? to the very same government that wants everyone to quit? does that make sense to you?

If the truth be known the cost has had more of an effect than the education has when it comes to people quitting.

it's easy to prove what I just said, while you will find many self rightous people patting themselves on the back to support your view you won't find proof to support it, just story after story filled with junk science.

I might point out that very same government also collects large taxes from alcohol, and gasoline, drugs, and many other things that fall under safety regulations, when a person really stops to think about it, reglation always means income to the government even if the actual benefit to the public is minimal or non existent.

Your response to suspected liberal thought is not to think about it, but to reply to everything with conservative thought when the situation could be adequately solved by plain old thought without any adverbs.

My response is a direct result of a person thinking that government control has been responsible for anything other than a source of revenue under the guise of protection.

A simple test to my opinion.

find one study conducted by government local, state or federal that concluded that they didn't need to regulate the suject of the study.

If you can't find one then you know that any study conducted by a government body is for the sole purpose of control and revenue and the conclusion was set before the study began.

junk science at it's best.

I am not doubting your statement, but want to know what rights of "The People" are, from your viewpoint, being striped away, by liberals or anyone else? Thanks.
The right to ingest what I choose for whatever purpose I deem proper. The libs on both sides of the aisle have decided that we the people are too stupid to make such judgments for ourselves so those who know better redefine freedom as the freedom to obey the edicts of the ruling class. Free like dogs in a pen.

True. And the Conservatives from both side are against legalization out of "law & order" grounds. You are a refreshing exception.

Those are the right wing progressives that define conservatism as unbridled Imperialism both at home and abroad. Aside from their pandering to the 2nd amendment conscious voting block they are authoritarian just as much as any tyrants anywhere. They just sell American as mean and hateful. There are few conservatives. Justice Thomas comes to mind. The band of thugs to whom you refer care nothing of original intent or representative republic.

Here is a good recent example. They constantly tell us this is a constitutional republic not a democracy saying that democracy is mob rule where the voter can vote themselves your treasure. Last week the radio babblers were spouting off because a court halted the voter initiative to strip gays of an existing marriage right since, after all, it was the will of the people.

Just waiting for the Obama justice dept. to get tough on these bogus medicial marijuana laws state have passed.
So instead of helping people who are sick you want them to take medication that is very expensive and sometimes doesn't even work. these legal medications kill people everyday, marijuana has never killed anyone. Our prisions are busting at the seams and you just want to fill them even more? Im pretty sure that you dont even know that the prisons are privately owned not federally owned. Why dont you do some research and find out a little more about marijuana rather than listening to the lil plastic box you watch all the time or the misleading research that was done over decades ago, that are now being proven false! people like you make America a lot harder to live in. I dont think every drug should be legal but shit you can get harder drugs than weed at the pharmacy and its 1000 times more dangerous. You sir are very ignorant!

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Leo

This is one of those days when money slips through your fingers in no time at all unless you're very vigilant about your spending habits. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to stop yourself splashing out whenever the fancy takes you, whether or not you can afford it. You're especially drawn to tempting little treats and luxurious indulgences.
