I disagree Chucko. I feel badly that you say let them destroy themselves, the fools. Maybe that's part of the problem today, that people just want to brush it aside and say they did it to themselves, so what? Do we just ignore the problem and let it take care of itself? Not in my world. I'll bet that many of these kids that are addicted to over the counter meds are normal, everyday kids that you wouldn't imagine them being involved in something like this. The peer pressure our teenagers face today is astronomical. The pressure to fit in can overwhelm and make a "good" kid make a bad decision. I commend those that recognize the problem and seek help. I'm not excusing the behavior or blaming anyone else, I simply understand that life isn't always as easy as it may seem. God bless our kids and keep them safe.

This is such an awful thing that is going on with our youth. Chucko, that is a very hateful thing to say. You have no idea what is going on in these kids lives and sometimes the way they cope is to get high. The kid in the video, James is my younger brother. It is so sad that this has become our normal in our lives but it is a reality and I can only hope that at some point he can get the rehabilitation and counseling he really needs. Maybe this can help teach some of the parents out there to watch their drug cabinets and that is can happen to you. Trust me, none of us would have ever guessed it. Hopefully with this being aired it can help stop some of the drug abuse occurring under our noses.

Chucko: with any luck you'll self destruct too!
What an awful thing to say about kids. We all know teen years are some of the hardest. Imagine being a teen in today's world.
Lord hear our prayers and keep all the youth of our nation safe and happy!

This is one area where I thank the media for reporting. As a Mom of a pre-teen, I think it is important to focus on drugs that those of us in our mid 30's and on may not know exist in our communities. When I think of drugs, I think of street drugs: marijuana, pills, coke, herion, etc. It's the drugs that are bought in our local stores that surprise me when I hear of addiction or over-dose. It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, addiction does not discriminate. Keep the lines of communication open with your children and never stop praying for their safety.

Chucko is right.Do we need to ban another plant that's natural to the earth just because some dumb kids abuse it? Maybe we should ban spray paint & keyboard duster too. I've read stories about kids choking themselves to get high. Guess we should chop our kids hands off once they hit puberty just to be on the safe side huh? Drug prohibition DOES NOT WORK.

Wow! It's amazing to me that when it comes to our children and drugs someone would be against a publication titled "potentially lethal drug combinations..." Either I woke up on the wrong side of the bed or more people than I ever realized have lost their minds. As a parent, I'd much rather read the same article that the teens are reading then to not know what could potentially cause their death. That's the problem with some parents, they'd rather not know, not talk to their kids while...they cross their fingers every day hoping their child doesn't become a statistic. Sorry, I'd rather read articles such as this then to read about a child's death in the obit's. And, I agree with other's out there. It's true only the strong survive. I'm fortunate to have kids who are strong. Do you want to guess why they're strong? Probably not because you'd rather not know about facts that could help the youth. Just a hint, try communication.

I am glad the article was written; however, agree with you...I had nooo clue on what kids are doing w/ the combo ??? I took the info from the article and googled to clarify. Not enough caffienne in my system this morning to type out all the info... bottom line, they take the liquid out of the jolly ranchers and mix it in for flavoring.

Kratom is NOWHERE near the same as marijuana OR DXM. And the Drank is actually totally different than what you have described. Get your facts straight before posting trash like this.

I thought there was some kind of chemical reaction taking place.
So beware if your children have candy laying around
