I developed acne on Effexor and then Pristiq. I tried everything short of Accutane. Nothing worked. To experiment, I tried three times to start and then stop. Acne came on within a week of starting and subsided within a week of stopping. I stayed off and the acne has never returned. I wish that was not a side effect or I would still be taking the meds. Also, doctors are reluctant to agree to acne being a side effect.
