Fire him [again] and the maroon who re-hired him. If the guy has such little respect for himself and the public service he is hired to do, how can we expect him to respond appropriately in a crisis situation? We can't. Now we have to be afraid of the firefighters and APD??? He's probably running a voting place on Nov. 4 to ensure all his peeps vote 'the right way'~ for McCain.

This is a state that, only until fierce legal battling, still had drive-through liquor sales well into the '90s. NM still has one of the highest DWI-related crash rates in the country. Does this honestly surprise many of you?

Ok, this is outrageous, Ortega, your just as or even more so guilty of these indiscretions. You should be out of a job and be black-listed as a total incompetent. You are so ridiculously inept and must have someone (family) in the city goverment protecting your sorry self. Albuquerque citizens, don't let this one slide, this is incrediably gross.

He should have been fired on the spot no questions asked. For the rest of the crew they need to have 10 day suspension for allowing this to happen.

Isn't it amazing that he has to sign an agreement that if he breaks the rules again he will be fired. Typical problem of society. No one is accountable for their actions. Never mind he knew it was against the rules in the first place. Did you know possession of alcoholic beverages in a city vehicle is grounds for termination per city policy? That is why we have so many people who break the rules and the law. If they get caught its someone elses fault, or they suffer from depression or PTSD or whatever. Everyone gets a second, third, fourth and so on chance. Where will it ever end?

He not only purchased alcohol on city time, but put it in a city vehicle and took it to city property! THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! Speed up that "due process" and FIRE HIM!

Hey, I thought the city had a Zero Tolerance policy to drugs/alcohol while on duty possession or otherwise....? Once again the people of Albuquerque are bamboozled and hoodwinked into Chief Ortega and Mayor Marty's bull$hit. Mayor you should replace the Chief as soon as possible, and fire the firefighter and let him fight to get his job back, hell by the time he gets through the process you Mr. Mayor may not even be the Mayor anymore.

I know who this jack axx is. I actually know who his wife is. He falsified his timecards to the tune of several thousands of dollars. He wasn't hired back. He sued and got his job back. This tool is represented by the same union that backs Heinrich. That pretty much sums it up.
