I have a question to my fellow rum enthusiasts.
Have any of you tried both versions of pyrats
cask 23 rum? I have tasted it about 10 years ago when it was in its original bottle (yellow ribbons
with yellow labels and hoti medallion on front of box). Is there any difference between that and the newer bottle ( black silk ribbons and new labels, ceder box). I have read on other forums that the XO has changed but has the cask 23 changed? I would like to know if anyone could tell me as I am looking to purchase a new bottle.

Thanks
BTW

Yes, there is a difference. My husband and I happened upon a bottle of the Cask 23 a few months ago and bought it on a whim.(The whole story is a bit more involved, but that was the end result.) I thought it was completely extravagant until I had a sip- then I wanted to make sure we never ran out of it! Amazingly smooth with a hint of butterscotch in the finish. Yum!
We just received our order of the 1623, and of course had a taste. It is good, but it is very different. Aside from the new packaging, the rum is of a lighter and more orange hue. The rum itself has a distinct citrus note that the Cask 23 does not have. To prove my point I poured a small glass and we compared them side by side. The 1623 is good, but alas it is not the 23.
