Why is the FORMER general manger being used by the Times Standard to report this matter?

"I believe what's happened now is the FBI and the (U.S. Department of Justice) have enough information now that they're prepared to present their information to a grand jury"” Mayer said"

"I BELIEVE"?? That's a great lead-in by a highy (?) reliable sours.

So why is Mayer the spokes person?

He and the rest of those that remained had all the time in the world to work their books to point the crime solely at Rich.

What if Rich has records and witnesses that implicate Meyer and others were involved.

"At this point, it's more or less routine," Mayer said.

Meyer is beginning to remind me of the personality type that starts a fire, rescues a victim and then sticks their face in front of the reporter to gain notoriety.

Patty Hansen, a spokeswoman for the FBI's San Francisco field division, said she couldn't comment on the case. "While the investigation is ongoing, our hands are tied," she said.

And that's the appropriate, professional position Meyer should be taking.

"Malcolm Feeley said grand juries are charged with sorting through gossip, innuendo, hunches and a wide variety of other materials "

Gee, you mean just like newspapers? "

"I believe"???

Great reporting Times Standard.

Generally, people starting a sentence with "I believe," or "I feel," are telling a personally held belief as if it were a fact, or they want it to be a fact. This is a way to get agreement with their position even if the facts don't back them up. Call them the "feeling believers", facts optional, it's up to you to figure out which ones they are.

Or, it could be that people who start a sentence with "I believe" are stating a belief as though it were a belief. Furthermore, they're being honest about it.

Don't get me wrong, Mr. Mayer should be keeping his mouth shut. I just think your statement was a gross generalization.

”People want to see (Ghilarducci) go to jail, as well as anyone else involved in this fraud,” Regli said.

Mayer, a source in the story, is one of those "anyone else involved".

Ghilarducci has done more harm to this community than anyone not in government can do.

Reader, perfect analogy on Meyer. He is kind of acting like an uninvolved, detached, "hey, I'm just the messenger, Rich is the one you should be mad at, I just walked into this mess", kind of guy. Like a Dr. Chilton on Silence of the Lambs. Sounds like a wanna-be big man.

You mean our government that provided dairys with rural electrification, rural telephones, rural roads, price subsidies, tax credit, buyouts, etc., etc etc., you have a limited view of the world. Our government has facilitated farm commerce for generations.

I can tell you for a fact, this trial is going to be a headliner.

Ghilarducci will explain in detail the depth of the corruption and some north coast local 'big names' will get a few bruisings before this is all over.

The outcome will be left for the courts but do not think this is a slam dunk case.

DITTO!! I can't wait until those truly behind all this are exposed. People have no clue how many years certain people profited from HCA.

Why did it take the grand jury this long? Only in Humboldt. No justice, no peace.

What if Rich has already furnished the FBI with evidence implicating Meyer and the board? What if the FBI is just playing numb and dumb to Meyer.

Boy that would certianly be a big laugh if Meyer has already been implicated by the FBI.
