I bought my first coffee at Ingles' Starbucks Wednesday -- white mocha. It was syrupy sweet and frothy, and there wasn't much to it --- for $3.50. At something like a dollar an ounce, about two swigs from the tiny little cup and it was gone. And I never did taste any coffee in that little thing. Harrumph.

I think Statbucks coffee sucks anyway. It always taste like they burn the beans. Their are a lot better places around Asheville to get a good cup of coffee. And cheaper ones to.

I never could understand the Starbucks craze. Guess I am not that into "double mocha, latte light, decaf with spritz of carmel cappucino heavy on the froth" to go in that cute little cup with the cup holder for only $19.95!! Oh yeah, don't forget to throw in that $16.95 blueberry muffin with wheat germ! LOL

THANK YOU! My wife tries to get me to drink Starbucks and I have told her a dozen times that I thought they either burnt the beans or let it sit in the pot at high heat to long. It ALWAYS taste like it's burnt. I'd point out your post to her, but I fear no good would come of it.

Lol, you could have bought some top notch filet mignon at that price per ounce.

Best cup of coffee I've had in a while was at Pheasant Hill in Waynesville. It's an antiques place that has some quality coffee and cakes. Been a little while, but I stop every time I'm there.

Well, that may be due to the fact that a mocha doesn't have coffee in it. It has a shot or two of espresso. If you wanted coffee, you should have order coffee. But Starbucks coffee isn't very good. They burn the beans. But their espresso is good. Get a double shot with a little cream some time.

If you buy Starbucks bag coffee and make it at home it's amazing. Doesn't have that burnt old taste like it does when they make it.

You're right, and not only that, you can turn the empty bag in at Starbucks for a big cup of Java. It's written on the bag. I've got one here with a few grounds left of Sumatran coffee. And when it's empty, I'm gonna cash it in. I like my coffee like my women and my public option --- BOLD!

I normally make decaf at home in the morning and then that's it for the day. The caffeinated stuff makes my heart palpitate and gives me the jitters and I decided that can't be good for ya.

But occasionally when out with the other ½ or a friend I’ve had very good coffee at Dunkin Donut, Cracker Barrel, and McDonald’s if you get the Paul Newman Special Gourmet Blend. Cracker Barrel and Dunkin Donut sell coffee to go in bags; it’s a bit expensive but nothing like those rip off Starbuck yuppie drinks.

Oh, and that coffee shop/restaurant on College and Merrimon is pretty good too.

Pisses me off to pay good money for old coffee. I'll take it right back and tell them I want fresh coffee. I really like DD coffee by the cup when they make it. But if you buy their bag of coffee and make it at home you have to use half a bag to taste it.

I make Starbucks at home and DD when I'm out and need a cup.
