Yeah let's put more drunk drivers out on the street! it is a damn shame in order for Carlsbad and its community to have a good time, alcohol and endangering others lives in the process is more important, isn't all the hit and run accidents we have had lately not enough. Mathis does not give a damn, as long as he benefits from it, or god forbid, one of his family members is involved in an alcohol related accident and kille, but that may not even open his eyes and think wiser. But yesm he may even be intoxicated 99% of the time anyway!!!

So tell me... how are people going to drive to the concert, drink and then get back in that car and drive home? That is just giving people the right to drink and drive. Big entertainers coming here is not worth risking the lives of others! You may as well allow drugs too! If we are going to party, let's do it right! Frickin' numbskulls!

Frickin' numbskulls! the same way they do when they go to chilis and other bars in town. Beer will stop being sold @ 11 might as well let them drink it's no secret anymore that when you go outside to your car what you are doing out there might as well let them have a beer and watch the show you people are clowns that's why this town does not move forward no one can be pleased I think it's great have a beer and watch rodney carrington they do it everywhere else .

Put up a road block afterwards and check for drunks, it is big business for the police force and the judges and staff. Or make it mandatory to have breathalyzers in all vehicles like they made them do seat belts, problem solved and billions of dollars saved. But wait, that would eliminate police jobs.

It sounds like they're taking the required care and "middle ground" in controlling the alcohol. It's no more inherently dangerous than (as another mentioned) having a brew at Chili's or any other establishment. Although, I had to chuckle when I read this: The Article wrote: He said allowing people to drink in a secure area inside the auditorium while watching the concert will eliminate the need for patrons to drink several beverages quickly before going into the auditorium. What is this mysterious "need" for people to chug down multiple beers before running into the concert?:-)

Lovely. More of Carlsbads drunk beaners on the streets. Can't anybody in this town do anything without a beer in their hands?

LOL....It's not like anyone shows up to support these acts that come into town anyway....I am surprised they are still setting up events. They served beer at the last concert I was at and maybe 5 people, including myself enjoying a couple of those refreshments. I think that left another 30 people not drinking...probably 25 of them that came with the bands....anything better to whine about?

wow...really? all this hub-bub over adults making the choice to buy a beer at a concert? really?? designated drivers....or raise the legal drinking age to 100. there, i solved your problems. also, have the city require everyone to have an air consumption permit.

its this easy: if somebody over 21 wants to drink at one of these concerts then give them a punch card with a drink limit. each time they go buy a drink, the card gets punched/stamped. when the card is maxed out they are cut off. just becus you dont want to drink doesnt mean everyone else cant. what is this? footloose?

This can easily be seen as a transportation problem, not a drinking problem.

That's creative, but you'd have to have an ID system too, or else you just create a black market in punch cards. The more complicated it gets, the more people somebody has to pay to oversee it all. Also, a 100# woman is going to get drunk a lot faster than a 250# man. More administrative hassle...gender discrimination complaints...scales? You'd have to cut everybody off at three drinks, at which point they'll just start going back to their cars and shotgunning beers again. qwerty keyboard wrote: its this easy: if somebody over 21 wants to drink at one of these concerts then give them a punch card with a drink limit. each time they go buy a drink, the card gets punched/stamped. when the card is maxed out they are cut off. just becus you dont want to drink doesnt mean everyone else cant. what is this? footloose?

Well, but generally people don't go to Chili's to party down. It's really not the same. And you're too smart not to know that people drink privately before they go to concerts (or bars) because it saves them a lot of money. And that's what will happen anyway to some extent, if they're selling Bud for $4 a cup. One can easily argue that people should be allowed to BYOB and pay an extra little fee that will cover community shuttles to take them all home again (or wherever they want to go). But that doesn't feed the corporate pockets, so we can't have that. It would be the sensible solution, though. The performers would get much better audiences. They'd have to have bouncers, but they have to have bouncers anyway, you're always going to have people who get out of control...long as we still have automobiles to stash hooch in. squidlyman wrote: It sounds like they're taking the required care and "middle ground" in controlling the alcohol.
