In past years the Ohio State Fair has beome more and more a gathering place for those from the ghetto etc. Now throw in alcohol served right on the property and the decline will continue. Not a safe or happy place to take your kids or grandkids so not wishing it fail but see a severe drop in attendence might open the eyes of the politcally appounted fair board who has lost sight of what a great place the fair used to be.

Translation: We don't want to be around people from the urban community if we did we would'nt have moved way out here.

So Kasich won't be staying overnight like other governors have in the past, eh? Hmm, wonder what he's scared of? He is a waste of space.

The fair hasn't been that great in the years after Gov Rhodes. Gov Rhodes was the fair. He talked Ohio and was Ohio. He was personally involved. Those days were great. Free concerts by major acts, The grandstands , the racetrack. the atmosphere, the food. It was all great. (Those were the days, my friends, we thought thry'd never end...)

Throwbacks? What about Bob Braun and Paul Dixon doing their shows from the grandstand.
Oh, that's right ... no grandstand.
Oh, that's right ... no Bob Braun and Paul Dixon, either.

A good place for the fair might be in London or in Jeffersonville. I know this is a longshot, but I wonder if the defunct mall can be repurposed into buildings that can be used for the fair? The current fairgrounds should be bulldozed and redeveloped.

CKS Dublin wrote: <quoted text> Into what, additional govt. subsidized housing? Funny you should mention this. Most people don't want to live in an old house if they can afford a new one. Your typical artsy person likes old houses and poor people have no choice, but the rest of us like living in a newer house and being in the suburbs. At the same time, I agree with the anti sprawl people to an extent. But I don't you will get most people back in the city unless yu can give them what they can get in the suburbs. There are a lot of houses that can be had for $5,000 right now. The city should buy as many of them up as it can and demolish them. If you can just sweep things hundreds or thousands of acres clean, I'm sure developers (maybe Nationwide) could be talked into doing for housing in the city what Nationwide did for the arena district. Lots of advantages for developers, too. Since roads and infrastructure are already there. The fairgrounds could be a starting point.

My son wants to go to the fair, but I am afraid to take him, it is a scary place. Kasich is a spoiled, uppity, pantsy, well would like to say worse, what a way to represent the State. Aren't all of you who voted for him proud?

Kasich would be safer to spend the night across route 71 in one of the houses with bars on the windows.

Let's see the governor is too good to stay in the Governor's mansion, that we the taxpayers pay for. He's costing us extra cash to pay for security at his private home, yet he talks about wasteful spending? Now, he won't spend thenight at the fair, breaking tradition. I have been a staunch republican, but he's turning me blue!
