While I generally oppose anything that might worsen the DUI problem, unitl Kasich is gone, we may just need this.

Finally!! It makes no sense to have this law when Ohio sells liquor that is over 100 proof. There are some great craft beers (Goose Island Bourbon Cty Stout) that are over 12% and are not available for sale in the state. Im forced to get it elsewhere and as a result my tax dollars are funding another state.

As an ex heavy beer drinker who was drinking 12-17 per night,I cannot see any reason why the alcohol level needs raised.People get blitzsquiggled fast enough on beer at 12%.Why do we need to get people drunk faster? Besides, you feel like shyitt in the morning when you wake up when you over indulge. I say, leave it at 12%.

Ya, I'm sure those college binge drinkers, and those DUI alcoholics will be spending $150 for a bottle of utopias, or $20+ for a high alcohol belgian./Sarcasm. No, they're going to drink whatever's cheapest that'll get them drunk. This bill is just common sense.

This will have no effect on anything other than letting a few brewers have the freedom to make product for a specific market. There is no legitimate safety or health concern here.

The Radical Right Wing Corporate Free Of Taxes Social Order The Right Wing Nut Case All Wealth At The Top Plan You Do All The Work The Nut Cases Get ALL The Benefits Of YOUR Work Loud mouthed covetous moron... Do you get paid when you work? Do you get paid for every minute that you work? Do you get paid the amount you AGREED to work for? If you don't like the terms of your employment, get another job. If you want the benefits of ownership, you need to risk the liability of ownership. You want to talk about reaping the benefits, but you socialist cretins never, ever want to talk about the risk involved in starting, owning, and running a business. You're just a covetous, greedy, selfish person, who projects your inner evil upon those whom you know nothing about. If business owners are so greedy and selfish, why would you for one of them? Let me guess, because you're too afraid, too lazy, too greedy to risk your own money to build a business? BTW... The word is spelled: D-Y-S-F-U-N-C-T-I-O-N

Perhaps you were drinking 12-17 bud lights or standard commercial beers? Those are not 12% alcohol. Most don't exceed 4% alcohol. Besides, your inability to exercise self-control has nothing to do with other people. You ask, "Why do we need to get people drunk faster?" The only answer to that question is, "Why do you think that is your business?"

It is good to see the Senate addressing one of the most important issues facing Ohio. If Senator Jimmy Stewart is resigning from the Senate, shouldn't all of his dum ideas go with him? What a waste of time!

Antagonist wrote: I might as well make the switch to whiskey now and get it over with. You've always had that choice. Why would the alcohol content of beer compel you to do that anyway? If you don't want higher alcohol content in your beer, no one will force you to buy such beer. You will still be able to purchase commercial brews with lower (<6%) alcohol content. This will not have any effect on the average joe beer swiller.

Let's get a few things straight. First of all, the headline in this article is absolutely, positively, misleading and irresponsible. Referring to this legislation as a 'Boost' for a 'Beer buzz' is just inflammatory and unnecessary. The type of beer being affected by this new regulation has nothing to do with the average beer sold in your local carry-out, which is what most of the ignorant comments are obviously thinking and naturally, with the headline, appears to be the desired outcome of the writer. As to the comments regarding binge drinkers,'just a couple beers, I used to..,' etc., this is not Budweiser beer we are talking about. These beers are specialty craft, micro-brews which will be, for most 'beer' drinkers completely undesirable, far too expensive and hardly something the common beer guzzling, college students, DUI candidate will be indulging in. It is rather obvious, most of your opposition to this matter is based purely out of your ignorance of the issue and your complete lack of understanding or knowledge about the topic. It is one thing to have an opinion, but at least try to have an informed opinion. Simply reading the sensationalized headline is not being informed. Expressing yourself purely because of your opposition to alcoholic beverages in general, or some other personal failing in your own character really has nothing to do with this issue. Alcohol is a legal beverage. If you are a tea totaler that is your business, but raising the alcohol content of micro-brews will not change your life one iota, so mind your own business. Lobby your representative if you desire to return to the days of alcohol prohibition, otherwise, spare the rest of us your ill-founded baseless ideology. As for the 'ex-heavy-binge drinkers' this matter won't have any affect upon yours or anyone else's lack of self-control. These types of beer are not designed, nor are they desirable for,'binge' drinkers or heavy beer consumers. They are extremely expensive are not something one just runs out and buys by the case to share with one's fraternity crowd, anymore than one purchases a very fine bottle of wine and sits in an alley and gets, "buzzed." It really does amaze me that so many people have so many opinions about something they really know absolutely nothing about. You really should be ashamed and embarrassed.
