How ridiculous to even discuss the price of beer with the price of gas. Nobody needs beer to get to work, shop, or do all the necessary things in life. If someone has to chose between having money for gas or beer, I suppose it would create a problem for those who would rather stay home, collect welfare and get drunk. It certainly would keep a lot of drunk drivers sober.

I am a bit confused by the last statement in the report that says that... good news for the beer industry, even in bad time people "HAVE" to drink beer".Why do they HAVE to drink beer? Is there some new law that requires people to drink a set amount of beer?It seems that if there are bills to pay, children to feed, important medical conditions to get meds for, any clear thinking adult would give up beer before the children went without a meal. But maybe my way of thinking is unique? Maybe it will wake up a few people and they will TRY to stop drinking and find they can not stop. Admiting to themselves they have a drinking problem, even if it is only a few beers a day.... they can not go without it

I am glad somebody else is sane (meaning "Just Me"). I cannot imagine that anyone would even put beer in the "must have" column. |

It is not that I do not have a sense of humor, maybe that last statement was ment to be a joke.....The sad thing is that it is a fact that many children do go with out food because the parents money goes for drugs or drink. And many people really can not go without a drink. If they want admit it or not, that is a different matter. Most will just say,it helps me unwind,I like the taste, you have to drink something so why not beer.

That story aggrivated me. People were saying they'd rather have the high gas prices than beer prices???! Come on now, that's just rediculous. If you're buying so much beer that higher prices are an issue, you have a problem.

I'm a transplant to this area, just recently got here. And I am SHOCKED at how many people buy so much beer! A simple trip into the grocery store and I see carts STACKED with cases of beer. There's a 'homeless' guy who stands on the corner of 52 & 19 often, with a sign stating "Won't Lie: Need A Beer" while asking drivers-by for money. My neighbor's kids go without decent clothes, toys, shoes, and food because mom and dad are sitting on the front porch all day pounding 'em back. No wonder there is panic in the streets!
There is a serious problem going on in this area with the alcohol consumption; this price hike might do some good. |

At least beer is cheaper than milk. And taste much better.

I know, my step dad was one of them, that's why it bothers me. It also aggrivates me when people give people with signs like that money. I've heard "well at least he's telling the truth." Ahhhh are you serious? Yeah, give him incentive to be an loser. |

Beer only causes violence. Right now we are in the highest violence and theft rate in years. I hope they jack the rates up even higher. Drinkers think that beer helps resolve problems, I know it don't. It just causes more problems

The economic situation now is worse that the great depression. In the great depression real estate collapsed and wages froze at best or went down considerably but on the other hand prices went down including gas and oil products. Today the average person is earning $ 1000-$1,500 less than last year and when adjust for inflation it is like $ 4,000 to $ 5,000 less per year. Oil and gas are rising at the rate of 4-5 percent per month! Food and clothing and other services are rising at 3-5 percent per month. And financial instrument like T-bills including the stock market are paying about 1-2 percent per month. Which make the current time worse than the Great Depression. All of this is to take from the working class to prop up the corporations and banks. This they said can only continue at this rate for about a year before all of the money is sucked out of this area. The corporations and banks will still be 60 percent short of having what they need to stabilize their losses. In the Great Depression only about 20 percent of people owned homes the rest rented as it took a down payment of 1/3 of the home value to get into a home so not too many people were leveraged out. When it does go down it will take a lot of people with it including financial institutions that are struggling now. To print money would send shock waves through the financial countries that have bought up huge amounts of our debt and we would have to pay the 8 percent or more on T-Bills and other securities which would result in our banks having to not only pay them 8 percent but our own customers as federal law prohibits them from having a 2-tiered interest rate plan. In addition, this is the first time in the history of the United States that a president started a war on a deficit. And we haven't even seen the worst yet! |

Beer is good for you. Instead of Budweiser, but Busch. Same stuff. Beer helps ugly people get laid. Natural Ice gives you the best bang for your buck. You can get 4 16 OZ cans for less than $3 and it is 5.9% alcohol.
If not for beer, fat girls would never get any action. |
