How Roman of the legislature. Can't do bread and circuses but up the alcoholic content of beer and constituents will be so buzzed they won't be able to comprehend how they are being screwed.

I currently have to drive to Kentucky to get beers like Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA, Dogfish Head World Wide Stout, Avery Mephistopheles, etc. Each of these beers average about 16% ABV. They cost about $10 for each 12oz bottle. To all of the nay-sayers: You really think some binge-drinkers and/or college kids are going to spend $40 on a 4pk of 120 minute IPA when they could by 5 LITERS of 21% generic vodka or 2 cases of Bud Ice from their local Giant Eagle are Kroger for the same price? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHA HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAWHAHHAHAHAHHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHA HAHA HA AHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...oooh, my sides.... HA HA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHHA HAHA HAHA HAHHAHA HA HAHAHHAHAH HAHAAHA Whew.....Anyways, besides the costs being too high for the amount of beer you get, the taste is a entirely different deterrent. Have you tasted an 18% beer? Unless you are acquired to it, it will taste VERY different and most likely way too bitter or malty for the average person's taste buds It will certainly not taste like anything Budweiser or Miller makes. If the law passes, I imagine people trying a high-alcohol beer once, disliking it, and then never buying it again. I wish that people would get off of their high-horses and have an open mind and actually THINK about issues before impulsively responding. Tony

Just because an aficionado wouldn't guzzle a 6-pack doesn't mean every idiot won't try.

"Just because an aficionado wouldn't guzzle a 6-pack doesn't mean every idiot won't try" It also doesn't mean every idiot *will* try. I've yet to hear a good (or any) argument about why it's okay to sell wine greater than 12%, diluted liquors at 21%, and normal liquors at 42%+, but it's a problem for a beer to be greater than 12%....the rationale is just not there. Please...somebody enlighten me.

We've played that nanny game for 40 years. Enough. BTW, I'm 47 and think 18 year old free citizens should be allowed to drink. If you're old enough to go to Afghanistan with a gun, and old enough to help decide the course of our nation in a voting booth you're old enough to drink.

George, you said it quite well. We allow 18 to 21 year olds to fight and die for our county and vote for our elected leaders. Yet we say they are too immature to be able to drink? And now we even say they are too immature to be responsible enough to provide for their own health care until they are 26. If they can’t be trusted to drink, they why do we trust them to Vote or Fight for us? Or do we just love having the ability to tell others how to behave? And I thought it was the GOP that was always being accused of telling others how to live?

Just pointing out a fallacy. I'll be all over that 18% stuff.

After the governor and everyone else Ohio elected you'll be needing that extra boost to forget it all.

Great selection of beers, especially ones you can't get here yet. 90 is one of my favorite beers. 120's taste changes depending on age. The older it gets, the sweeter, more bourbon-like taste it gets.
