this is borderline comical. i mean it had to take 2 egghead academics who have most likely never set foot in a troubled neighborhood to come up with this theory? what a joke. i dont know who to laugh at more, these poindexters who spent 30 years researching the obvious or team morris for their approval of this "defining piece of evidence". hilarious!

Wow... San Bernardino has some major problems. Lets just make people buy 30 pks. of beer instead.That's a great idea. Making store owners responsable for activities around there store is also a great idea. I have an idea, why dont the cops regulate whats going on in the neighborhoods. San Bernardino has no jobs, no decent parks without grass taller then a foot or two, crapy streets, and a law enforcement that is afriad to go downtown. I dont understand why people are getting paid to run that city. I would fire all of them and re-elect someone with some balls to acutually make some real change. Not some BS study that means crap. City is destined to suck with its crapy schools on up. I grew up in San Bernardino and it makes me sick to see it in such bad shape. Ill run for office...who's with me.

What store owner would be dumb enough to allow anyone to vandalize their store with trash or graffiti. Most stores, have spent big bucks painting over graffiti, cleaning up all the vandalism. That's just crazy, penalizing store owners for something they did not do. Maybe the store owners need to post signs to warm vandals that they are being recorded & the recording will be used to penalize them for their criminal activity. Another thing, no standing around the premises, unless you are a customer.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Cross reference 2 types of a data and reach a conclusion solely off of them, take it to a city council, and they vote to change an entire city's way of handling something. It's a shame because data can be skewed in so many ways.

Did they take into consideration that there could be no relation here at all, and the fact that "single" alcholic beverages might have no play at all in the city's violence? Or that taking single serving drinks off of shelves can possibly make people steal packs of beer because they can't afford it and possibly get drunker than they did off of single servings, become more violent because they aren't getting their substances, or increase drinking and driving since now when you run out you can't just go to your corner liquor store, you will have to drive to a neighboring city.

I support a lot of what the new Mayor and the new Chief of Police have done in the city since they took office. This however is disgusting and I can't believe they are using it as a tool meant to decrease violent crime.

I've seen guys at E and Orange Show drinking on the bus bench...they start walking into traffic and they go pee right in public view. This actually goes on all over town, even worse in some parts. There's a place on Baseline that attracts all kinds of scum all day long.

When I get gas on Waterman I see guys all the time get a single and start drining it right in the car. I'm sure that is not legal. Drunk drivers cause many deaths a year. If this stops gang bangers of getting braver from alcohol and killing someone then that is great, I support it. My kids deserve much better than peeing in the street. Wake up people, is all this really ok with you? Are we just becoming blind to it? What a shame.

Well, I've seen drug dealers doing business right out in the open in public and people rolling joints and smoking them in their cars! The brass of these people is monumental.

This is just another way to single out minorities in poor neighborhoods that drink certain beverages based on affordability. These liquor stores are found predominantly in low income areas so it comes as no surprise that there are higher crime rates. Take away the alcohol from a poor desperate man and it won't take away his need to survive (which may entail the occassional robbery). White collar crimes the likes of Enron, and the Fiscal misconduct by the major financial institutions that resulted in the downward spiral of, not only,the national, but the global economy as well, which in turn required close to a trillion dollar taxpayer bailout were perpetrated by wealthy executive officers that most likely drink alcoholic beverages like Cristal Champagne that cost a few hundred dollars a bottle. Why does nobody feel the need to ban those beverages? These problems are symptoms of much deeper socioeconomic issues.
