All the public want is access to the product not some Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania to tell me where to buy.. Fair. , get a life. Maybe we need Breakfast Cereal Distributors Association of Pennsylvania to tell me where to by Cheerios.

This is great. Heck, Wal-Mart sells beer & wines in Florida...and SAMS CLUB sells liquor there too. PA is behind the times for years.

This is fantastic news! Finally, perhaps there is a chink in the lobbying armor of the PA liquor/beer cartels and we can move forward and get these stone age laws changed entirely.

Now we know where their priorities are.
Every single smoker/chewer in PA should sue them for discrimination. They refuse to sell tobacco products since they are unhealthy but yet they sell beer.
Hummm. Lets guess the excuses they'll use. Alcohol is not a direct killer. False their are many health related ailments caused by beer. The list goes on and on.

There are many health related ailments caused by 'excessive' alcohol consumption. There are very few, if any, medical professionals who would tell you that any quantity of alcohol is unsafe to consume. The reverse is in fact true, as it is proven that a glass of red wine a day is beneficial due to the antioxidants it contains.
On the other side, there is no safe amount to smoke or chew; any quantity is unhealthy and harmful, which is why Wegmans no longer sells tobacco products.
We should have the option of buying beer and wine wherever we like. The distributors simply do not want to compete because they know they will have to lower prices.

Say goodbye to all the small beer distributors, whose families worked hard to earn a living off the peanuts they made off the cases of beer. Everyone thinks your making big bucks when the average you make on a case is $2.00-$2.50. You have to sell alot of dam beer to pay the bills ,employees, etc. Well you are going to pay more for that beer in the grocery store, plus your choice will be limited to the 3 major brands. You will still have to go to a distributor for micro brews and imports. How do I know this ? I am one of the larger distributors in the ABE area.

Most states let you buy beer in supermarkets. It's about time PA starts catching up.

One of the first things an oncologist will tell you, that, if you are going to get chemotherapy, you are not to drink any alcohol. I may be wrong, but I also believe that Drs. tell their diabetic patients not to consume alcohol, too.

I've lived in other states, California and Wisconsin. I never had a problem purchasing wine and beer in grocery stores, etc. I'm not much of a drinker, but I sure would like the convenience of purchasing a bottle of wine when I happen to be at the store instead of making a special trip. Sure miss that!

Perhaps the distributors should have been trying to please their customers instead of ripping them off.

It is a business decision. There is no law saying a business has to sell tobacco. They don't need any excuses.

Great now let's privatize the "state stores" so we can get some competition and some half decent things. Good thing I live 20 mins from the Jersey border so I can get the things I want which PA state stores never seem to have..PA has had a strong arm muscle hold on alcoholic beverage sales for way too long..bout time the grip has been loosen even if it is only beer! I do find it ironic if that is the right word for it that Wegmans got rid of selling ciggies but now gets to sell beer!

What is your point? Broccoli gives some people heartburn. Yes, there are people who shouldn't drink because it interferes with medication or because of its carb content (diabetics) that doesn't mean that a drink now and then isn't ok, even beneficial, to most healthy adults.

I think its great that PA is loosening up a bit, allowing Wegmans to sell alcohol.

But you almost can't blame the distributors for being p1ssed. After all these years of having to deal with these stupid laws, and building their businesses around them.

But it's best for the consumer, that's for sure!
