Word on the street, Armstrong raised his heated voice in opposition to Griffins position to hold the property tax to the current level. Also, none of the members, including the Mayor, did their homework. Nobody could determine the actual tax increase on a $100,000.00 house. wow Thank you, for posting a response that was on-topic and added to the discussion. you're a good member of the topix community and it's greatly appreciated!

Gentry and Armstrong are going to shaft Mt Washington city tax payers Monday night 10-24-11 at the 6:30 Council Meeting. The Mayor and City Attorney have it all worked out, G motions and A seconds. Bam, a tax increase, just for the Mayor. Add this one to the Auto increase they just passed, they are two for two. Tax payers, zero for zero. Way to go Harold. Voters better start understanding what and who they are voting for. Question of the day, Harold isn't male, who is it? Answer----it's JC.

Would the good Preacher please report on how good or bad the city has become since the passage of the Sunday Ordinance. From here appears to have made no effect. Only one major development and that happned on a saturday night. She was able to twist the officer around and keep from being put in the slammer. None other than the queen of the town.

Regardless of the debate over Sunday sales, the reasons given for it - that so-called 'upscale' restaurants aren't moving in here because alcohol wasn't being sold on Sundays at them - simply do not make sense. The community has grown, but is not large enough to support a large number of restaurants. A lot of restaurants have come and gone, some served alcohol, others did not. They are gone because the customer base simply did not exist to support them, coupled with the economic downturn. Granted, some of them weren't very nice (like Rosa's in its latter days that just became run down), but others were very nice but there simply was not enough business for them to survive. Even major national chain restaurants with a lot of advertising located at the bypass have failed (such as Sonic and Quiznos - Quiznos being the nicer food of the two). Other restaurants still open such as El Nopal, Fiesta Mexicana, Mongolian Grill, etc. aren't exactly standing room only, either, when you go in there. If there was a such a huge demand for more restaurants, there are restaurants like Bob Evans, IHOP, etc. that serve no alcohol that would have been built. And it is doubtful that 'only' allowing alcohol sales 6 out of 7 days would have served to keep out restaurants if there was really a large enough customer base even for those chains that serve alcohol. Aside from that, do we really want all of this development? Do we want to recreate Hurstbourne Parkway right in our own backyards and add 20 *more* minutes onto our morning commutes? Do we really want a five minute run uptown to get something to turn into a major undertaking wading through all of the traffic? Those of us who have lived here awhile had the freedom to move to Hurstbourne if we wanted to be among all of that. Those who moved down here talk about how they like having 'room to stretch their arms' then demand all of these places be close by again - in effect recreating what you were wanting to get away from. The so-called economic growth is obviously not efficient as taxes have continued to be raised and we are begging the state to subsidize increases in our infrastructure such as roads. When and if we do see more restaurant growth, it will be due to continued population increase coupled with an upturn in the economy - this ordinance will have little effect either way.
