He may have produced the best moonshine but being discrete is a large part of the whole pic. If he's the world's greatest Moonshiner how come he's not making it now? He was a jackass when i met him but inbreeding and egomania will do that.

It was worth the drive to get the shine. Popcorn was part of the show and made it more fun. Egomaniac as he might be, he's a bygone breed. Once he's gone, all we have left is the ABC store. No adventure in that.

This man has never hurt anyone. He is a legend in our county. Everytime I have ever had the privalege to be around him he was never a jack***. He's a criminal. Making moonshine is illegal. He knew it and he done it anyway. He should go to jail like anyone else who breaks the law.

He is a felon that got caught with a gun. That is what he is in jail for. Wake up you dumb rednecks. He is a criminal that was given a second chance, and he blew it. You may love him and his shine, but that can't change the facts about his legal issues. As far as facebook goes, you can start a group called "my balls are hairy" without any problem, and plenty of people will support it. What's the big deal?

Happiness to the world? Educate yourself, tink, and go read the Haywood County criminal record he has. Arson, attempted murder, etc. Then see what happiness you think he brings to the world.

Making moonshine is an illegal art. We made Popcorn Sutton an icon by producing documentories and glorifying his skill. He flaunted it in the faces of the law time and again. Personally, I would have preferred my tax dollars to prosecute some meth head, but we like to let those people roam the streets.

Popcorn passed away recently, apparently by his own hand. Rest in Peace, Popcorn.

Although illegal, moonshining is a part of Appalachian culture and Americana in general. It is an art that needs to be preserved.
