The good news is that officer Edward's partner fired on the perp immediately. Unfortunately, he may survive.

My condolences to the family of this young officer. Cops and firemen are never paid what they are worth. As for the POS killer, another area "citizen" incapable of knowing right from wrong, I wish all the pain and endless monotony of life in prison....if he gets it.

I can't be critical of officer Edwards in any way. These are high risk situations. I have experienced traffic stops where an officer will have his hand on his gun just walking up to a vehicle occupied once. Edwards was a white officer going into a black apartment complex. I just wonder if he might have been trying to avoid the appearance of looking too aggressive and perhaps escalating the situation by readying his weapon. It's a judgment call. Again, just my curiosity involved.

They know right from wrong, they just feel entitlement and expect to take whatever they want from others. A quick execution would make many of these jackasses reconsider as well as keep prison population low.

A quick execution is what the officer's partner tried to deliver. He about emptied his peace at the guy and hit him a bunch of times. They should have waited about 20" before calling for EMS.

The shooter has a string of violent offenses dating back to attempt murder when he was 16 years old. He dislikes police as is evident. After a bunch of tax payer paid surgery, it looks like he will survive. After his string of felonies, he was NOT MDOC supervision, not that that would stop him from acting anyway.

I knew this officer when he was just a teen. He was a fine young man then, and I am sure he was a fine upstanding husband and father. I want the death penalty for the scum who ended Matt's young life. I am sick and tired of these fiends walking our streets and endangering the public. Why should we have to support his rotten rear with shelter, food, clothing, possibly an education while in prison? I am darn sick of this. I say hang him and make it public!!! I don't care how that sounds!!! When a person you know is cut down way too early in life, it tends to make not only the tears flow, but the blood boil!

If he makes it to jail, life will not be all that comfortable. He's bound to be tripping down stairs and lots of cool stuff like that. A cop killer tends to become very accident prone in the can.

Not to quibble too much, but Taylor has not been annexed by Detroit yet. Actually, some have suggested that the suburbs annex all of Detroit in sections by decree. Anyway, it is no surprise in Taylor, Romulus, Southfield, and so forth.

The good news? Hahahahaha, what's the good news? At the 1/1 perp for cop ratio, the cops are going to run out of dunces before the perps do.

Usually the police practice more and shoot straighter than the criminals. We've have a bad recent run here do to apparent flaws in police protocol answering dangerous runs. The ratio of "perps" killed to police killed is no where close to 1:1.

You're right, all within about one month, in NJ a punk white kid being evicted from his mom's apartment killed three cops, in Oakland one black dude took out two motorcycle cops and two swat cops before he was killed and another black dude killed four uniformed cops lounging in a Washington state coffee shoppe. So the odds are definitely in the favor of the well trained shooters, that's for sure.

Don't forget Flint and Inkster! This whole country is going to be a cesspool soon because of them.
