Herbert Jamel Witherspoon is not that type of person to committ murder. He is a sweet young man. I have never known him to harm no one not even an fly. So in Heart of Heart he needs to be released. He is INNOCENT of any charges against him.

Herbert Jamel is guilty and I can't wait to see him spend the rest of his days in jail. To his friends and family he may appear to be sweet, but in the streets he is as ruthless as any other cold blooded killer.

Herbert is not a murderer he is a gental and kind person that if u needed anything he would try to help u out. I have known him all his life and he is a free spirited person whom wouldn't hurt anyone rather he would walk away. I hope our jackedup system won't frame another young black man because they need a fall person. I really hope he gets a fair trial,also I hope the police haven't set him up and paying off a snich. Myself I have no faith in the Detroit Police Dept. personal experience.

Every once in a while, the justice system makes a mistake. But in this case, I think Herbert is guilty. He has always been known as a thief and everyone from the hood knew that. I think this was a very unfortunate incident even though I did not know Rico personally. But, when I first heard about it it really hit me hard--just the whole nature of the incident. I can't stand a damn thief. It's one thing to rob someone, but to have to kidnap kids and shit and then kill someone because you are a simple individual is someonething else. I can't stand people like Herbert because they are lazy, sneaky, dishonest people that would rather rob people instead of getting out here and doing their own thing. I'm glad that he is in jail and karma is the TRUTH. What goes around comes around! I hope he gets life in prison for the terrible things he has done throughout his petty ass life.

I don't have to know a killer personally to know what they have done. People change. Just because you knew somebody or grew up with them doesn't mean that you know what they are capable of at all times. Ms. Markita since you know so much.. were you with Herbert on January 15-16 2007? If not, then how can you say what he did? Times are hard for everyone. So you have no clue what a person is capable of doing nowadays....

Further more, the information that I received regarding this case had nothing to do with the media or police. You should know the streets talk, everybody is not so convinced that your boy Herb is so innocent as you like to portray him as. It doesn't matter because he will get his either way...

Sheree I was going to comment back until I discovered that you use to sleep with Herbert! You lied to him earlier this year about having a baby by him and when he did the DNA test and found out that it was not his baby, he left you alone. That's funny, so it explains why you are so bitter with him . You had a baby by another guy and thought Herbert was going to take care of it. I hope you enjoyed all the things he bought you and the baby.

I just will like to send my deepest condolence out to Herbert's family and those who really love him. As said before "THOSE WHO KNOW HIM" knows Herbert is a very loving man and would help anyone no matter what. This is a sad time in the world when people being to judge a man from what they hear not what they know. This is someone's life on the line and I pray that another life is not destroyed while the police settle for another case of anyone will do for an easy job well done.

This is a perfect example of a witch hunt THIS MAN IS NOT GUILTY, no one knows what happen that night but the people that were there and a higher power. I hope he is treated fairly due to the lack of knowledge and misinformation that is being release. Everyday mistakes are made and years down the line they're corrected, lets hope this will not turn out to be 1 of those mistake that the city has to apologize for. I am sorry to hear what happen to Mr. White & his family but Herbert is innocent and can not pay for someone else doing's. I hope everyone judge the way they will someday have to be judge fairly. Everyone is only one error away from having their family destroyed due to someone lack of knowledge.

How can you say this is a witch hunt? This crime happened in January it is now September. The police did not pick him up right after it happened. No, they picked him up once they had substantial evidence pointing to the suspect. In addition to that, the shady Detroit Police Department is not in charge of this investigation. The article states that Warren is handling it. It states that they searched his home in June with undisclosed evidence. That information should not be disclosed in the paper anyway until the trial. Also if they went back to pick him up months later, something has to tie him to the crime. If he didn't do it, then he should stop acting like he wants to " keep it real " and tell what he knows. Either he did it or he wants to be the fall guy for the real killers.
