Jena 6 prompts local rally in Denver

Ok, the white kids did something very offensive but were not charged with a crime, so that makes it Ok for 6 blacks kids to beat the crap out of white kid in retaliation? What a joke. Too many Blacks can't take responsibility for their own actions. That's why so many are locked up, on welfare etc. March all day and night, call in Sharpton. Nothing will change because it's the sheep being led around by the true racists like Sharpton and they are too dumb to even know it. Pathetic.

The black community is so ignorant. When is a stong black leader for the african american community going to stand up? When are blacks going to stop allowing Jesse and Al to continue to make bad decisions for them and using the black community for their own personal political gains? These kids broke the law, almost beat another child to death. What the hell do you want the cops and the courts to do? This was a brutal crime and has nothing to do with race. Stop playing the victim card, its getting old and its sickening.

this ridiculous. why would they free these undisciplined, ungreatful people? whatever happened to taking it all in stride and being the better person? i'm not saying that it's okay for these other kids to hang nooses in anyones yard but that in no way or logical matter warrants physical abuse. these kids need a lot more than a few nights in jail because it's obvious their parents are being the role models that they need. they should be tried as adults and not just be slapped on the wrist for beating another person unconcsious. that shows serious problems in their personality and morals. why not rally about something good and try and take steps to move this great country forward? instead of just whining and complaining about anything you can because of your skin color. give me a break and be a GOOD contributing citizen and let the courts do what they need to in order to deal with these hoodlums and discipline how they deserve, instead of holding back just because of the color of their skin.

In my opinion, what the white students did to allegedly "prompt" the beating, was free speech. They did not physically attack any black student.

There are allegations that one black student "stomped" on the head of the white student - sounds very aggressive and assault charges are warranted for actions like that.

I hear David Bowie contributed to the defense fund of the Jena 6, but I guess it wasn't enough to spring the remaining jailed individual who is in on a $90,000 bond. I suppose Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson can't dig $9,000 out of their pocket to get him out eh???

The remaining jailed individual has a past criminal history too.

Interesting enough, had it been 6 white kids that beat up a black kid - it would be an issue of racism and the white kids would be labeled to be sent to jail for life!! Those evil evil boys! UGH

6 black kids do it to a white kid, and it's still a racial issue but now it's that we go after the black community for justice and how dare we? So yeah, the white kids did something that is very childish and whatever you want to call it, however as someone said they didn't almost beat a kid to death!!
The main outcry from the black community is that we are always racist against them - whether we beat them up cause they are black or we lock young men up because they are black (forget about the part that they almost beat a white kid to death!)
The saddest part of this story is people are so quick to point there fingers at the white community that we do EVERYTHING Wrong (cause they are so entitled to everything) and what it boils down too is that I think that black people are the most racist people on the planet!!!
Sorry, even though I personally am not a racist - it is something that is noted every time one of these stories come up and it's always the white people that are the "racists" and are just out to get the black community.

I am so sick of this crap, why is it that so many of these people can march for a protest but can't seem to be able to walk to a job on a regular basis. Wonder what would have happened if whites and blacks were reversed in this case, would the protesting whites get the media attention and support of a bunch of ignorant bleeding heart morons like the blacks are getting now? Now, what (the blacks ones did) is labeled in the statute books as assault (and a violent one at that) and they should be rightly punished for it. "Symbolic" crimes, like a noose in a tree, are actually FAR WORSE than real crimes, like armed-robbery. These "symbolic" crimes, which in fact which happen in America about once per year, far outweigh the REAL crimes committed by African-Americans, which in fact happen about five times each second!

Although I think that this situation is a far far cry from attempted murder, it is battery...no matter what race. That is an accurate description of the law. We can't wonder why young people are killing each other when we have groups defending any kind of violence against one another. I have to wonder if these children would be getting the same kind of support if they were Asian, or Hispanic, or even white. I doubt it. It really isn't a race issue, it is a violence issue.

By the way...if these two were really reverends, they'd be preaching the gospel of salvation and loving your neighbor. Never heard any of that come out of their mouths.

Actually, what was the white kids was not just a HATE crime, but was a threatening statement. An beyond all of that sickening when you consider the history and culture of that area where blacks iterally were lynched and hung from trues. It is sickening and disgusting. I don't condone the violence returned, but I can understand it. It must have been so horrible to see a rope hanging there--taunting--reminding them of the horrible things have happened and still happen. Disgusting. And those of you who are so blinded by your hate and your lack of education should be ashamed.

First off I'm a white guy. If you hang nooses in a school, then you deserve to get your butt kicked and badly. It sounds like these white kids got the lesson mom and dad were failing to teach them.

I'm of two minds. The prosecutor was overzealous with the charges brought. On the other hand, while "free the Jena 6" certainly makes a great bumper sticker and T-shirt slogan, please consider the most egregious of the six, Mychal Bell, who has FIVE convictions in the last year and a half. Do you want to free a guy like that and have him out and about in YOUR community with no rehabilitation?

You don't understand what is happening in your own world do you? If you were beaten by 6 people over something you said or did that was not criminal would you be walking with Al Sharpton right now. NO!
Although the ropes on the trees were a vile act that has no place in this world it still does not mean these little jerks can go around assaulting anyone they please.
