Guns were a small part of it. Prescription meds were probably what made James Holmes flip out.

I hope the next shooter kills some evil corporate types of the ruling class.

Two days after a gunman who police say used legally purchased firearms killed a dozen theater-goers in a Denver suburb, the nation's political leaders began debating whether stricter controls on gun access were necessary to prevent further violence.

Judged: 5 5 4 Why do you think Holmes, the shooter, was wearing all of that body armor? So you really believe a citizen with a concealed, likely small-calibre handgun, could have shot down a man with full, SWAT-style body armor? You must think the SWAT-teams are stupid. You must think that body armor is not effective against small calibre handgun ammunition. You must not have thought through this event. The only type of firearms which are guaranteed to pierce SWAT-style body armor like Holmes was wearing are high-powered rifles, such as the AR-15 type rifles carried by both Holmes and most police SWAT teams. So do you think citizens should be allowed to carry AR-15s into crowded theatres, to "protect themselves" from a body-armor-clad madman like Holmes? |

Judged: 4 4 4 One other thing, why do you think Holmes threw not one but two tear gas canisters into the theatre, before he started shooting? Perhaps to make it harder for an armed citizen to see clearly to shoot at Holmes? Remember, Holmes almost certainly was smarter than probably 95 percent of everyone in America. How many people could graduate with a college degree in neuroscience with high honors, being the "top of the top" as Holmes was described by the president of the university from which he received his degree? Holmes spent months planning this event. He clearly did not want to be injured or killed himself. He studiously avoided getting into a fight with police, even though he was heavily armed and he was wearing a complete kit of body armor. He even saved police lives by warning them of the booby traps he had set in his apartment. So we know Holmes had no beef with police. In this case, armed citizens with puny, small-calibre handguns would have made little to no difference in the outcome, most likely. This guy was too smart. He had planned too well. |

Judged: 8 7 6 He wasn't wearing body armor on his face, and a well placed round from a handgun could have easily penetrated that gas mask and embedded itself nicely into the his diseased brain. I agree though, with everything going on that night within the theater, a bullet to the face would've been a long shot indeed, but sometimes luck will send justice to it's target. I don't know what the solution is. A sick nut such as this with mass casualties on the mind will carry out his plan through some means, regardless of how many gun control measures are in place. |

Judged: 7 5 4 i second that miss doll. i have a CC permit and i exercise my right to use it almost everyday. we have over 33 thousand federal gun laws on the books, not to mention all the state and city laws that exist today. i don't know what law they could enact that would have prevented such a tragedy from happening in todays world. as my friend, you very well know that i too have a great number of guns and ammo. i even reload my own ammo, but i don't harbor any thoughts about wiping out a score of inocent people or any single one person. some people are just plain evil, and untill socity figures out a way to tell them from the rest of us, we will have to protect ourselves. i hope and pray that nothing like this ever happens again, ever. my prayers go out to all the families involved in this terrible tragedy, my they find peace and closure. |

I know this sounds a little insensitive and honestly I don't mean for it to sound this way, but in some ways we are lucky this guy used a low powered Military Rifle, if he had used something like a .308 M1A with a dual drum could you imagine how much worse it could have been ?.
