Deadly Pit Bull Attack....Christmas Day

BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA - A pack of pit bulls surrounded a woman and mauled her to death, authorities said Wednesday.

Police found Kelly Caldwell, 45, lying in the street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and took her to a hospital, where she died, the San Bernardino County sheriff's department said.

After the mauling, the dogs ran to a nearby house. Deputies shot one dog to death when it returned to the scene and acted aggressively as paramedics were trying to save Caldwell's life, authorities said.

A second dog was shot to death Wednesday when it too returned. Deputies said it became aggressive as an animal control officer was trying to capture it.

Kill the owners.

I'm an animal rights advocate. I STRONGLY support almost anything that protects animals. But ultimately, people are more important than animals.(politicians and most lawyers excluded) I doubt this was simply a wild pack of pitbulls. If so, then this is unfortunate. But if there was an owner connected to these animals, they should pay dearly for owning and neglecting the care and control of these animals. I've known a lot of dogs, but I've almost never seen even a pack that would do such a thing under normal circumstances. They must have been treated in such a way as to encourage that.

This is just another good reason for everyone to carry around a can of pepperspray!

I'm so sick of everytime a dog attacks someone every idiot automatically labels it a vicious pitbull with no proof of the actual breed (or more likely the MIXTURE OF BREEDS) the dog really is.

This is the type of story that fans the fires of bigotry and ignorance against the pitbull wonderful animals)

If they mauled someone it must be pit-bulls. If it crossed illegally into someone elses yard, then its a chihuahua and if it slips in the back door after dark, it must be a black lab. Drinking from the toilet, an irish setter....

At least there is a bunch of recent tiger attacks to take the focus off the dogs. Personally, I'd much rather be attacked by a pack of pit bulls than a tiger at a zoo. Especially at the cafe.

OK, now you've gone too far. It's not right to pick on the Irish Setter. They may be a little slow, but they know where to get fresh water.

Actually, you may have missed the high school science geek that did a test of his high schools water fountains compared to the water in a school toilet and found the toilet to be better than the water fountain.

Barstow is a hick town anyway...sorry she lost her life, but that town is a hole.

It's a stop for people traveling from L.A. to Vegas and back....they used to have a decent outlet mall there, but it's a ghost town now....well it was a couple of years ago when I went back....
