Their tactic is illegal. Ever wonder why nobody was able to identify the truck? It's because it was unmarked, thus the term in the repo industry "Bottom Feeders". Rocky Mountain Repo is a good company with legitimate practice. Call them up and they will tell you the Main brothers are a disgrace to the trade and give LEGITIMATE companies a bad rep.
By the way, it's very easy to successfully sue them when they repo the wrong car. Especially when they damage custom paint that cannot be matched. And the owner of the car misses her final exam at CU.
Isn't this about them helping an injured woman? How did their profession and who they are become the subject of debate?

I don't have to call them up. I've been to their meetings and in fact work for a company that is a member of the RMRA!! So when you say you sued them sucessfully, I find that hard to believe. Yes, it is possible however, but most good people understand mistakes do happen. I've been involved in situations where a "back-off" order was issued, or the debtor paid off the vehicle and the lienholder neglected to tell the recovery agency, or the VIN was one number off. But like I said, unless your vehicle was damaged (which you say is the case) then it rarely happens!! But to sue because your "custom" paint was damaged or your daughter missed an all important class is ludicrous!! Most repo people will use any tactic to recover a debtor's vehicle. But when I say "any tactic" I don't mean the illegal kind!! Show me where the it says that a tow truck has to be marked witht he Company's name. The only time markings are required are for private tows and the like! Then the PUC numbers have to be displayed. I happen to know a VERY good body man that can match any paint by the way!!

What some of these posters are referring to is the Main brothers are car thieves and their practice under Colorado law is illegal. They are lucky they haven't been shot yet, and in Colorado you can shoot them if you see them stealing your car.
Who in here wouldn’t have stopped having a truck equipped with car stealing hydraulics?
I woke one morning to my daughter’s car being hooked to a repo truck, which was odd since I had the title in my office. Long story short, they grabbed the wrong car and I sued them for more than the car was worth. I’m not saying they don’t deserve a big thank you but keep an open mind that their practice is very illegal in this state and many others. I sell heavy equipment and when I need to repossess something I do it legit and not by hiring bottom feeders such as these two clowns.
ROFL!!!!! Car stealing hydrualyics... 2 funny

explain how it's illegal? It's a Ford F-250 with a wheel lift. Do they need a full blown wrecker or roll back? I was thinkin that they probably use the pickup with wheel lift to not draw attention to themselves to allow them to surprise the people who's car they are repo-ing.
The truck is illegal as a tow truck under the Colorado PUC law, as it is a 3/4 ton and Colorado law requires all tow trucks to be 1 ton or bigger. It is not illegal to repo a car as long as the company doing so is bonded, licensed and has the proper paper work. Hats off to the guys for saving the womens life!

Clearly VM Bobcats has never made a mistake in his life and we should all give him a big hand since he is so perfect. But not all repo men are bottom feeders and no you don't go out and advertise that you are repoing a car it is a good way to get shot at. To get your car repo'd you are usually 3-6 months behind have no insurance and have made no contact with your lender. The point of the story was the good that these two men did for the woman and why did you have to start the bashing? You are the loser, walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you are so quick to condemn

these two are complete idiots.if thats the truck they are using to do repo work they are illegal under colorado law!since the truck is illegal,no insurance company will insure them, therefore i would venture to say they are "cutthroats" to the industry, and an absolute disgrace.guess this is a job any bonehead would do!!!!
It does not matter if they are legal to tow or not.
What matters here is that they were in the right place, at the right time, with the right equiptment, for the job of saving this womans life.
The matter of right equiptment for towing cars is for the police to decide at a later time.

I can't believe that anyone would find fault with those two men that saved the woman's life? What kind of a negative person are you? Finally there is a happy positive story in the news, and you find fault in this wonderful act that saved a woman's life. It is people like you that makes this world the sad place it is today. I hope a car doesn't ever fall on you, and someone like these two happen by, but because of liability and stuff they decide to let you suffocate under there.

What makes them illegal is their vehicle. The law says that a minimum of "duels" is required. This refers to two tires on each side, for the rear axle. A Ford F-150 is a 1/2 ton truck. no such rear axle is available for that truck. It takes a 1 ton truck to have duels. For example an F-350.

Yes it If the Main brothers are in fact repossessing and towing vehicles with an F-150 truck they are in violation of the Colorado Public Utilities rules and regulations. The Rule is 4CCR-723-6 PAGE 76 (111) a STATES " a GVWR of at least 10,000 pounds." The only way to have a GROSS VEHICLE WHEEL RATING to comply with that is with a truck that has duel rear wheels. Also by Colorado law anyone doing repossessing work in Colorado should have a $50,000 bond on file with the COLORADO ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE! As one of the previous post's mentioned there is a Rocky Mountain Repossessors Association " REPOSSESSORS.ORG " who's members are legitimate and do comply with all the laws, rules and regulations in Colorado. Now with all that being said, I still say Thanks to the Main brothers for being there and doing what needed to be done. WE sure don't get many Christmas cards in our line of work!! Be safe

If the repo business is illegal then why do the states issue us a license to repo. Maybe you ought to educate yourself before you come and run your mouth and make an ass of yourself. Oh by the way most states require us to have our vehicles unmarked so the we don't embarass your ass when we pull up in front of your house.

We in Colorado have a good Samaritan law that
provides legal protection for ANYONE with or without proper or legal equiptment to aid in the rescue and or life support of an injured motorist! Hurray for the Main brothers!Past wrong deeds,if any are in the past. Its called
redemption, its in the BIBLE along with the story of the good Samaritan.

the regs are silent about the size of truck or equiptment used. the bond is not required nor is a puc# as puc does not regulate repo companies. you simply have to disclose that you are not bonded. if your gonna cry about this crap make sure you have the correct info. you can get it from the att. general office or the puc it aint that big of a trick. I have owned and operated a repo outfit in denver for 8 years now. pay your stupid bills and we wont come after you.
