I'm sure they're not aware of it. Or don't want to believe it. We had a couple of clergymen in our area, proven to be child molesters and my first reaction was disbelief. One of these priests died before any charges were proved, the other priest got transferred. Other than those two, I believe all the other priest I've known have been okay. Many were absolutely wonderful.

Back in the day, imagine how hard it was to march down to the church, explain what their son said, and the priest saying "your son has a warped imagination" A few families would contact their bishop only to be blown off by him staring the family in their eyes saying "I don't know what you are talking about".........yet every bishop who had molesting clergy under his watch, would know exactly what was happening..........because he was the one hiding these priests by moving them to other parishes only to abuse again.....
Catholics need to wake up and determine what is right and what is not, and act accordingly, instead of making excuses for this sub culture that has been within the catholic clergy worldwide for centuries.
The real totals, I am sure are astronomical. We will never know.
