Did Hitler want war?

Other than his occasional Hitlerphile outbursts, I respect Pat Buchanan especially his insights on the thirdworld-ization of America.

Gentrifying Hitler, though, is carrying coals to Newcastle. His [Hitler's] agenda did not stop at restoring Germany to pre-Versailles greatness or even to establishing an Aryan alliance with England. He wanted to sanitize Europe, build a wall between Europe and the "hordes from the east," and wipe the private hates of his youth, the Jews, Gypsies and Slavs, from the earth.

Nothing less would have satisfied him and Buchanan surprises me in extracting dates and events to support a kindly review of a madman.

Pat Buchanan is just a closet Nazi who hates all Slavic nations. Hitler felt the Slavic nations had inferior intelligence and inferior cultures so it was OK if Nazi Germany stole their lands for German Lebensraum (extra German living space).

Maybe Hitler didn't want to take over the whole world but he did want to take over a lot of it, starting out with Eastern Europe. Once he got through with Eastern Europe he then would have focused on Western Europe. But Eastern Europe was the first "big catch" for Hitler. He said so in his writings like "Mein Kampf".

Hitler's detente with Russia was supposed to end with the defeat of the RAF, followed by an amphibious invasion of SE England and a NW fork coming in from the North Sea.

The only thing that kept the Russians fat, dumb and happy was the promise of Poland cut down the middle with a protected corridor to the Romanian oil fields. It was central European oil that Russia hoped would keep Hitler from marching to the east. Germany didn't need potatoes.

The Brits spoiled that by not folding or agreeing to the armistice Hitler offered them. After a year of attrition, he had to go east for oil, not lebensraum as the history books proclaim. A German Europe was attractive to many in the US including Henry Ford and Walt Disney. Germany's lack of a navy underscored the absence of a plan or intent to cross the Atlantic. The Japanese attack in 1941 spoiled that, too.

Hitler didn´t want war, he had to do the business to fight back the lost lands after ww1.
and the verdict of versailles has the mistakes that danzig and prussia were not able to reach - means the germans wanted a corridor to the rudiment land - but the poles wanted to play a bloody game and said "no".
so hitler, would not occopied france to bring back elsass-lothringen (now france) if the west allies be silent.
but they had an allience with the poles and it is not only germanys guilt that millions died.
and the votes for the jew churchill in england gave the start.
but now we are all happy - germany has lost - the muslims dominate european towns - mohamed is the most named birth-name in bruxelles - the winter comes - we feel good.

I believe the main reason the nazis invaded Russia was because they thought it would be highly profitable. They expected to win lebenstraum and all the natural resources which came with it with little or no risk.

This was due to the german army being very well trained and experienced. They'd already beaten a far larger allied army to take over continental Europe in the first place. Then they saw how poorly the russians did in their Finnish campaign and assumed Russia would be easy pickings.

How wrong they were.

The Russia adventure was stupidity from start to Finnish. By tying up three armies before England was beaten Hitler gave the US a year in which to breathe and resupply England and begin a southern campaign in Africa. He couldn't conquer Russia without taking out Moscow by way of Stalingrad and Petrograd. Germany greatly overestimated their Wehrmacht and underestimated the Russians. By the time of the Stalingrad defeat, Germany had wasted its three most powerful armies on a peasant country that would have cost them only a Polish partition. Germans "re-discovered" the Russian massacre in Katyn forest a full year and a half after the Russians retreated from Poland.
Germany also wasted the Ukraine that was ready to rebel against the Soviets but instead was treated to SS thuggery and forced to choose between the Russian of two evils.

Part II

Hitler's plan to conquer and dominate Europe was well on its way to succeed until Congress cut off Japan's oil shipments. They decided to take the US Navy out of the Pacific guaranteeing US entry into a world war. The Tri-Partite Pact blew up in Hitler's face by bringing US factories into the war, and six months later, US forces. The Russian invasion was a poorly conceived contingency plan that started a succession of coffin nails into the Third Reich.

That still doesn't excuse Pat Buchanan from trying to eulogize Hitler and write it all off as a Churchillian plot.
