Nice sentiments Dave, but between hospitals, doctors and insurance companies contributing to senators & representatives campaign funds, it's going to be hard.

If a good bill (i.e. one with a strong public option, no tax on benefits, etc.) passes, the Republican party will go away for a long time, and they'll do ANYTHING to see that that doesn't happen; including outright lying (like the 'death panels' story), ignoring the 1st amendment (like rallying people to disrupt town hall meetings) so the congresspeople who are in favor of reform can't make their points, and other dishonest, un-American tactics.

We need the Democrats to fight this thing through. If it means with 0 Republican votes, then so be it. It must be done because, as you said, it's right.

How can you say it is right? I've tried to read this and I as other professionals can not wade through the present bill --HR 3200.

Your reference to the Kennedys does not change my opinion. Let us look into this Kennedy family--"family" that is a term they like to use loosely no isn't it!? But we have Joseph the patriarch, his unlawfull acts brought him much $$$ and therefore much influence. Joe Junior died before he was able to establish himself although he was his father's favorite to run for president so maybe that is enough said about him! Comes John, cheating and lying to his wife!! Good man, huh? If you can not be true to the person you have vowed to love & honor, well forget about keeping your oath of office! Then comes Bobby, Bobby having an affair with his sister-in-law who is suppose to be grieving for her dead husband, hmmm nice family picture here!! Of course Bobby is married too! Then little Teddy, not to be outdone by his brothers, actually murders a woman, well, leaves her to drown in a submersed car that he is able to free himself. What a man, hmmm, honor--no. Then the family makes his pregnant wife go with him to the hospital and stand by his side. Oh ya, these are some great Americans and so because these great Americans are now dead let's make sure we sign the death warrant for all Americans, let's push through legislation that we have no idea what it entales and let's do it NOW!!!

America WAKE UP!! Take a look at what they want for you!! I say if this is so great, this health care then try it first on a control group--if it works for them and if it is truly a cost savings and makes health care better then we can expand it!! The control group should be the very peopl who are pushing for this--our elected officials and the ones they appoint--czars, commission members, the supreme court and don't forget the unions. Maybe just the union bosses first because I'm not sure the poor union member should be a ginney pig.

Sir, I am afraid that the best thing the Kennedy's did was cut taxes, that would be Jack. But he was also a drug addicted sex machine that brought street walkers into the White House. Bobby was doing Marilyn when Jack was done with her. And Teddy was a sexual predator, committed a homicide in '69, and according to the secret files of the KGB offered to turn traitor to his country.

OK, deep breath, why do people from that era feel so protective of the Kennedy's? Jack's Daddy, Nazi Joe bought his election in Chicago and in Texas( I think this guilty knowledge is the basis for the transference where any repub bought the election comes from). He, Jack screwed up the missile crisis and got a man, Oleg Penkovsky killed, he payed Cuban's to retake their country, with the promise of air support, and then chickened out and let them Die. And then there is Vietnam. He is the guy. But instead of saying let's whack these Communist goons, before the Chinese or the Russians see a major opportunity, he did training. Had he done thing differently would the millions that died and millions more that were tortured after we pulled out, and showed that we were weak kneed twits in DC, have a different outcome? I don't know. I do know that I would like to piss on Frank Church's grave.

Then we have Bobby, what we know for sure is that Bobby was also after anything in a skirt, that he was quite full of himself, and that once Sirhan Sirhan solved his arse he couldn't do anymore damage.

And then Teddy. He was best known as a drunk that followed a seriously leftist/fascistic line politically. And the Homicide and the politics of personal destruction and sexual assault and flagrant sexual affairs. Fritz Hollingsworth had a great line after Teddy was photographed with an assistant in a boat, "I am glad to see that my colleague from Massachusetts has changed his position on offshore drilling". The offer via proxy to assist Andropov in helping to bring Reagan down. And on and on. No Child left Behind was a TK bill. The man was a trainwreck personally, and a bad actor in the Senate.

Why should I as a person with no real party ties not look at the facts and condemn these men and those that hold them up as laudable? And this is a real question not a rhetorical question. I don't get party loyalty and/or fealty. But I would like an explanation if possible. Think of it as a teachable moment.

So how did you get access to the KGB's "secret" files?

What a load of sanctimonious bullcrap. You are asking for informed Americans to stop fighting what they believe in just because a liberal dies of a brain tumor. This is just about as un-American as it gets.

Many representatives are not even responding to their constituants that disagree with their viewpoints. Are you even aware of this? Do you even care? They are trying to jam this down the throats of the public. Sometimes shouting is the only way to get their attention. It was during the Bush years and nobody was bitching about it then so it is being done now. Got it? It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Perhaps that is exactly what is expected by the neo-Marxists in the Democratic Party: Silence from anybody that disagrees from THEIR viewpoints.

In my opinion, Ted Kennedy being dead is probably the best thing that he has ever done for this country. I would like to know who is paying for all of these opulent funeral services. The taxpayers?!?!

I didn't, they were published during the Clinton era. And the kgb books I read did not include this, they put a strong push on Barbie Boxer though.

Here is the link that you will ignore. Frankly the man should have been hung as a traitor. http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/27/ted-kennedy-...

So now you’re worried about your rights! I hope you were voicing your concern over your rights when the Patriot Act was passed/signed or are you willing to give up some of your rights for a little safety. What I find un-American is allowing a congress and president to usurp the constitution without a word of protest. So now we are asking our government to recognize every citizen's right to have access to health care and all of a sudden everyone up in arms because they are lead to believe they might lose something. What is confusing to me is how many are willing to argue against health care reform using the pretext that we can't trust the government to run health care but at the same time are willing to trust that same government to take someone out of their home without warrant, hold them indefinitely without charge and bring the case to a secret court to make sure it is "legal.” Now that is a leap in faith! I know we were attacked on 9/11 and we may very well be attacked again but throughout our history we have asked young men (and now women) to sacrifice to preserve the rights that we claim to be so dear to us. Too so easily allow our rights to be compromised seems to me is to have let those down who paid the ultimate price.

First, Dom - your ability to predict what I'm going to do is as faulty as your logic, most of the time. As I stated earlier (I don't remember which thread exactly), most of my posts are in the form of questions so as to further my understanding of other's opinions - whether they agree with mine or not.

So I read the Forbes article (the one you were so sure I wouldn't), and the interesting thing I came across was that the whole revelation about what Kennedy wanted his former college roommate to try to accomplish in Moscow WAS WRITTEN BY Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB.

If you'll take the word of a KGB brass over the word of a US Senator, then we may have a difference of opinion on who should be tried for treason.

As a side note, Steve Forbes has had a GIANT problem with Ted Kennedy since back in the 80's (if I remember correctly). I think it had something to do with a comment Kennedy made at a Washington dinner, to which Forbes promised to retaliate. So when Forbes publishes something about the Kennedys you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Absolutely fair, and I apologize for trying to put words in your mouth. I did not know of a problem with the Editor of Forbes and the Senator. But, why would someone put a false file in the scret records? That seems unlikely. But with the Russians anything is possible.

As to logic, I think that we come at problems with differing predispositions, leading to different ends. I may disagree with what you end up with I will try to never assume your logic is faulty at it's base. And yes I will fail on occasion, I am not even close to perfect.

Will George Bush ever atone for the depleted uranium he left in the Middle East, poisoning the next 1000 generations there? Shall we forgive him, if he does?

Wasn't it Prescott Bush, George W's grandfather who's bank was actually closed-down for its traitorous funding of Hitler's industrial machine?

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
