Yada-Yada-Yada. Here in Minneapolis, it is ABSOLUTELY APPALLING to see where the horses are kept. I would not keep stray birds or cats in there. It is a hovel. We drive by there on the near north side. And I have the urge sometimes to go in there and let the horses go.
So it makes me wonder about the horse drawn carriages in New York City, too. The PETA people sometimes go overboard. But they also do a TON of good. LET THE HORSES GO!!! |

Ah yes. Vee are gud to dee horses. PHONY! I have seen horses idly and restlessly standing by in Central Park so that the rich and stupid can get a ride. They look so bad. |

Nutty nutty nutty. The whole protect the animals thing backfires when people have no animals around them. Like the zoo, people would soon forget about the plight of wild animals if their zoo-kept counterparts were not available to keep them in the public eye/interest. The horses in New York has a dogs life, they are fed and well cared for. In which history of man is it a bad idea to use horses as a mode of transportation? Where are the statistics that shoe a shorter lifespan or great increase in the injury of horses drawing carriges compared with standing in a field? Not all of us want to sterilize our existence, nor, being animal lovers as well, do we feel that they are being abused simply by being in human company. I really don't believe that mankind as a rule abuses the animals in their care, people in charge of their care are generally attached emotionally to the animals around them, and advocate for their humane treatment. Almost all kept animals have veterinary doctors looking after them, the argument against keeping animals is largely false with some exceptions.

He's lying. Why do you think he's all over the Internet mouthing his lies.
Check the movie "Blinders". Sums it all up. And they're not using the horses as transportation but for entertainment in a city that got rid of all forms of horse transportation 100 years ago. Check a page called StopLiesSeeBlinders on You Tube. There's one vid of the drivers calling a lady a "c#nt" which apparently is defended by the industry spokesman seen standing right there. That's the kind of people they are. But don't worry, Just like Al Capone the IRS will get them in the $15 million a year all cash industry. Guys that call a lady a c#nt just might cheat on their taxes, ya think? |

This guy is full of crap. His screen name was removed from You Tube for abuse. Check the movie "Blinders" for him at 38 minutes in and see this brain surgeon pull a mask over his face after the camera sees him while he commits an assault full of violent threats against 2 PETA people who were only filming him.
Then check his page for a video named "Animal Rights Moron". In it you will see a carriage that didn't pull all he way into the curb (you have to look carefully for the last carriage), sticking out 4 feet into the traffc I have to ride my bike in, creating a very dangerous condition for me and everybody else on that street. This clown interrupts my attempts at getting the driver to obey the law by screaming insults at me the whole time, claiming it's illegal to have my bike on the sidewalk (it's not) among other things. Make sure you check the girly voice he uses, despite being 6 foot plus and I am 5 foot 6, while trying to intimidate me. In short he stuck his nose where it didn't belong, making accusations that just aren't true, like the rest of his story. I take care of the homeless in Central Park while the cops who are supposed to do it are busy picking off the carriage trade's competitors. These cops told me they won't write a summons for a carriage, even if it blows the light with children inside. While taking care of the homeless I came to notice the poor horses, going around and around on the pavement, never actually getting onto the grass, in heat and cold, so much so, they have worn a groove in the pavement. And let's not mention how many politicians $15 million a year in cash will buy. Hey, when is Liam Neeson going to sleep in one of those horse stalls with the jail bars he made comments about how comfy they looked and he wouldn't mind it? |

Prisoners are fed and well kept too, but they don't like it either.
And a mode of transportation? No, this is abuse, around and around until they have worn a groove in the pavement. |
