Dallas pastor's broad-brush criticism of Islam goes way too far

Full story: Dallas Morning News

It's hard to know where to start in expressing dismay with the Rev. Robert Jeffress - for being uninformed, un-Christian or un-American. The pastor of Dallas' First Baptist Church managed to squeeze all three into a recent rant against Islam.

I do not believe in Islam, but I think burning the Koran would be a big mistake. I wouldn't like it if they burned the Bible and I think such action puts our troops in harms way!

The people who believes in and higher spirit all are serving the same God just with different names. Nothing is wrong with it. I am setting my own theory about the higher spirit. Yes, I was raised Baptist, but I looked at everyone as a child. The people wasn't right always trying to knock other religions. I didn't like the way people were acting towards others. I started surfing around to different religions when I turned twenty - one. How can all of you people talk about when I get to heaven all I will be doing is praising God. On earth they can pray and praise God. We all choose to survive in the Devil's world. What does this makes us? Why do we only live by what we want to live by? If the Bible states what the people should do. Just do it. The Amish people are the real ones who will be more likely to go to heaven. Go check them out. Then have no electronics and new worldly objects. They tried to do exactly what the bible say more than any other religion going by the bible. I am not God to judge. I am not Muslim, but call me crazy I vote for them to put it up. I haven't explored their religion because I am lesbian. It is really hard to just go to different churches. I know Muslims as well as Christians are against homosexuality. We are all human and they greatest gift on earth is LOVE. Wake up everyone we are all equal and should be treated fairly. The pastor was doing exactly what I stated about down talking other religions. That is not the way to get people over to your religion. I would think if God's people were more accepting and forgiving as God is then you would win more souls in the Kingdom of God. Do not be fake just being you. Do not be shame because if you are ashamed you shouldn't be doing it. I am not ashamed because this is the first time I have ever been in love. Do not pray that I change because I know I can love, accept others, and forgive most. I just have not ever forgiven any rapist or child molesters. I haven't forgiven the people who have kidnapped my daughter and yes I got her back. What they did to her is something that no one should ever experience. I am really working on it. Thanks for your time. Have a great day!

They have and also burn our flag. They hate us with all their WORTHLESS hearts. All muslims hate everything about us. Don't trust any of them including our leader. You can't treat them like human's all muslim's are animals.....I have my reasons. I will never see them differently.

My kin is ex military having served a combat tour in Iraq. Those we fight in the middle east had better remember one thing: our country doesn't operate the way theirs does. If we burn a Q'Ran in our country, it's our business. If they want to burn our flag and say "death to Americans" in their country that's fine. But if they come HERE and say that, they need to be deported as hear this ENEMY COMBATANTS unless they try and keep their faith in killing someone or attempting it. Then they should be executed.

One thing people in this country don't understand about this so called faith. It is grounded in their politics as well. It wouldn't MATTER if we burned the Q'Ran or not. In their holy book we are infidels and we either convert or die. It's that simple. They are also permitted to lie to an infidel and it's not wrong.

This idea of putting our troops in harm's way is a moot point. It is merely heating up what's already there. Burn it you offend them, don't burn it you offend them.

Our nation believes in freedom of religion. THEY do not. That in itself violates our constitution. We have allowed their groups to spring up all over the country. So don't be surprised if one day you wake up and Sharia law will be imposed on you, like the old frog in a hot pan.

It sure takes a lot to get the religion of peace frothing at the beard. Savages. Turn the entire region into a glass parking lot.

It's an important day to enlist the cooperation of your partner and loved ones. If you can sort out any differences then you can work together to achieve your goals. Don't try to put aside the concerns or objections of others, though. Take time to discuss important matters. The home is the heart of your partnerships and if you put in the effort there, you can enjoy the fruits of the labours of all your family.
