I came out during the 90's and haven't looked back since. I experienced mixed reactions from family and friends since announcing I'm a lesbian, but I've learned to deal with it. I'm older now and not in a relationship. I make freinds easily, but cannot find a serious love connection. One night stands, while temporarily sexually satisfying, leave me feeling unfullfilled. I'm afraid of my tomorrows. I'm a professional, home owner, attractive, but lonely. How do other unconnected gay/lesbians find fulfillment during their September years? Please advise.

<quoted text>I so agree! Despite periods of self-acceptance, most of the time I am sad. Sad and aware I'm different and abhored by the straight community. I love queer sex, but found very few emotional connections. Mostly it's temporary. Lots of fantasy keeps the connection alive briefly but not long term. I can't live on fantasy for long, I need a solid emotional foundation that is extremely hard to find as a lesbian.

Texas has much greater prejudice than other states. Its no wonder that Jan Whitacre is feeling isolated. You too Kat. You need to settle for less fantasy and recognize that most lesbians have different body types than straights. While true that some lesbians are very fem and pretty, they are the exception. Many of us , fem or butch, aren't as attractive as fantasy makes us imagine. We do it to ourselves by the way we dress, talk, act, use or not use make-up and hairstyles. We make ourselves targets rather than just blending in. I've changed and found that blending in gives me much more acceptance. Especially with family members.

Whoa. I was all ready to go for the pun/stupid comment...but this sounds terribly hard. The blending in or less militant sounds like a cop out but might be the most practical piece of advice I've ever seen on the interweb. Good luck ladies.
(Ps Texas men aren't intimidated by lesbians, we know most of the men out there aren't good enough for Texas women!)

How about finding fulfillment in being what you were created to be. A woman. You don't have a penis, so you are a woman. Only a man can fill that.

The thing about love is you cannot look for it. It just comes when it comes you will know it. It does not matter what sex you are in love with. Thanks for your time. Have a great day!

I disagree with your statement. You did say it respectfully. Thanks!

You won't find fulfillment until you start living straight. God created you a woman to be with a man not another woman. He made no mistake. I know your thinking I don't want a man. Well try and have a good life . But the odd's are against you..And so is GOD.

Can we have a discussion without the religious zealots? Just once? Or must they continue to push a single point of view into every single discussion? I would, just for once, like to have a reasonable discussion with someone of a major religion without them using that religion as their primary argument. Read more than one book.(Ps, books about that one book really don't count).

You know your right; We don't have to answer to another human. we will answer in the end.. So to those who choose same sex relationship's go for it; as long as you keep it to yourselves. I don't think you should be able to adopt an innocent baby though. That's just my opion..

Rarely are two people in love with each other as it almost never happens. People always seem to want what they cannot have...however goodluck anyway.

Delta found fulfillment in penis and god. Dennis hasn't found it. Misery loves company. KLGTA has it right as soon as you stop looking, that's when you're open enough for love to find you. I stopped looking and 3 weeks later met my wife of 15 years. Fulfillment comes from how comfortable you are with yourself, and how your life affects other people, not from other people.

If two people love each other that is a good thing, right ? If they happen to be the same sex , so what ? They certainly could not screw up marriage ANY worse than hetero couples do ! Now on a lighter note (kinda). What did one lesbian frog say to the other lesbian frog ? ITS TRUE ! WE DO TASTE LIKE CHICKEN !!
