For something that the tax payers have to support, don't you feel the salaries are getting way to high, like maybe over 90% of what is realistic.

Young had a very good season last year and has the potential to do as well or better. The Twins need his right-handed hitting in the line-up, especially if he can provide some additional power from that side. He, Morneau, and Thome seemed to be the only three Twins last season who could hit line drive homers in Target Field. Young's attitude, furthermore, should be good going into the season. Most of the players on the team should be fairly happy with their situations and will be able to concentrate on baseball.

I like Delmon. While he's no gold glove outfielder, he had a nice year at the plate last year and we have too many question marks with the bat to not value his production.

Right-handed, potential to bat .300 and drive in 100 runs, at a relatively modest price. Glad they avoided arbitration.

Jolly Green... quite the understatement saying he is no gold glove outfielder. Every fly ball is an adventure, but he's got a nice bat and drives in runs.

Awesome! I think Delmon is just scratching the surface and will start bombing ball to left this year or next. It took Tori awhile to learn how to hit in the bigs and Delmonatello has the talent to be a .300 30+ 100+ guy. Starting to get amped for the season.

Hopefully Delmon comes to camp in great shape and ready to prove that last year was no fluke. If he proves he is a legitimate middle-of-the-order RBI man, he'll get his big contract next year. And everyone knows this lineup needs a right-handed power bat.

Obviously Young was going to get signed either way, but it's good that it didn't go all the way to an arbitrator. It may be worth signing Delmon in the off season to a 2-3 year extension IF he has another banner year. Most GM's would rather overpay in the short term than commit long term to players though. The Twins OF is in good shape barring injury.

Gee, I sure hope he will be able to live on that. With gas, food, and clothing prices going up, I don't know! ;-)

Big diference: Torii could at least field his position. Delmon is downright scary in left. Combine that with Spann's puzzling drop off defensively last year and you've got an outfield that's questionable at best. All I can say is, he BETTER hit!

Pay him that kind of money when he learns to field his position. You've got to admit there's never a dull moment, and nothings for sure when the ball's hit his way. Even a ball that's rolling by the time it get's to him can be high drama, or comedy, dependent on your viewpoint.

Why don't we stick Cuddy at 3rd full time and go after an outfielder that can field? At least that way we would have 1!

Here is the good news: 1.$ 20 million off the books between Nathan and Cuddy at the end of this season. 2. Another $ 7 million off the books with Capps contract through trade if Neshek can close. 3. Pavano's $ 7 million off the books in 2012 or sooner through trade if Twins stink it up. ~$ 34 million off the books by end 2012 as things stand. What I don't understand is wanting to trade Liriano after spending big on Pavano and Capps. We could have had that other power throwing closer for less. Signing Mauer for 8 years to compete at the catcher position when no other team cares about that position. It is clear his contract, injuries and unproductivity at that position is beginning to handcuff the Twins. Looks like all the additional revenue from Target field if going to pay Mauer. By the time Mauer's contract is up, TF revenue will be going down or flat as the "new stadium" novelty evaporates. We could have had Morales or Ramos at the same position for much less. Twins need to ditch the "ole boys club" mentality and get serious about winning championships like the Yankees, Sox, Cardinals, Lakers, Patriots, Red Wings etc. Look at the Packers out east. They had the tennis balls to get rid of Favre when he was considered an institution and now have a championship to show for it. I like Mauer a lot but sometimes you have to be practical and realistic. Would the fans rather have a WS championship or eight years of Mauer and no WS. Ideally you want both but I don't see that happening.

It is pretty funny how all the rocking chairs jocks think they have all the answers and input but nobodies listening and it doesn't mean a thing when they hear the cash register ring as more sales tax is added to their purchase in order to pay the millionaire baseball players.

How does Joe Mauer make more then what the Cardinals want to pay Albert Pujols? Something is wrong with that logic. Mauer is nowhere near the talent of Pujols. I guess being a hometown loser has it's privileges.
