If he had done that first in going public and sharing his experience of being abused, I believe that he would have been acepted in a more positive manner.
Good intentions often backfire into ones face and cause more damage. His situation caused more caos at the ARBs hearing than any good it could have accomplished. Cheers Gus |

1 Why? Because LeMond revealed his secret for maximum impact. The goal was to plant seeds of doubt about Floyd Landis. LeMond wanted to undermine the good Mennonite image that Landis was trying to establish. The secondary goal of LeMond to elicit sympathy for himself backfired in the current cynical world we live in and had little impact. LeMond is a demented buffoon envious of other American Tour champions, not a crusader for 'clean' cycling as he pretends to be. Jon |

1 ("Unfortunately, the facts that he divulged to me in the hour which he spoke and gave no opportunity for me to do the same, would damage his character severely and I would rather not do what has been done to me. However, if he ever opens his mouth again and the word Floyd comes out, I will tell you all some things that you will wish you didn't know" -- Landis'post on DPF) Those words cannot be justified! Don't try to turn the victim into the culprit in order to have facts match your prejudices. Here's what LeMond said recently in a recent interview: "“I don’t want to be a poster boy for sexual abuse,” said LeMond, now 47 and living near Minneapolis. But he also said that even as he told himself “that I am a lot more than just that,” he realizes that some of his reluctance is born of embarrassment. “Even me — who has come through therapy and is not ashamed of it — I debate whether I really want to be known for that,” he said.“But I think that if I’m debating, it only reinforces that I have to be part of it. It’s a way to make people realize they’re not alone. It’s not their fault.”" As for him being envious of other American Tour champions, that claim emanated from Armstrong-fans-LeMond-bashers loooooong ago and is getting so old. Care to find a quote by LeMond where he sounds jealous? |

1 As for DPF, I've been reading DPF since 2006 just as I've been involved here since 2006. As I work in mental health and have treated those with sexual abuse/asault, I probably have a better understanding than you of what effects people in that area. Cheers |

1 With "bashing" I was referring to Jon's post. Since you're more knowledgeable than me, you can probably explain how 'demented buffoon' is not bashing. ZENnone: of course it is about money. The TREK lawsuit is about business litigation! It'd be really surprising to not find money talk in there. Talking about money does not necessarily imply jealousy... Noyb |

1 Noyb76, we have had several discussions on Greg Lemond here. He is a great rider and TDF champion. But, many believe that he didn't do well by jumping into the Floyd Landis case. He meant to help there, but it back fired into his face. And worse, it caused more confusion to the ARBs hearing in May 2007. Cheers |

1 That's not completely true Chris. Jon is a cycling fan like the rest of us here and he cares about the sport. He also understands the science involved better than most of us as he's been great in explaining it, so that everyone here had a better understanding of the drug testing process. He has every right to be pissed off as cycling isn't doing so good right now over all. Hopefully he'll see that at least some good has come out from the Floyd Landis case in forcing the labs and cycling teams to begin doing better in combating drugs. Cheers |

1 And then you wonder why people respond back to you in negative mannerism. If you don't want people pissing you up Chris, than try not pissing them up as well. If the picture is that of you Chris, than I'd say you look in pretty good shape for an old cheeky sod. Cheers |

But, if you READ his pleading (used as a legal term, not a reference to attitude), he claims 'Trek didn't treat me like they treated Armstrong'(whose reputation and record was selling GREAT volumes of TREK frames/bikes...)
Let's also not forget that Lemond was used as a witness in a lawsuit against Armstrong, by some 'endorsement' contract-holder who wanted to reneg on some 5million due to Armstrong... I don't remember now if that situation arose AFTER, or PRIOR, to the lies of l'Equipe about 'proving Lance cheated in the 1999 TdF, using EPO'... BUT my hunch is it was after... ZEN(none?):-))) ps: Woodstock nation revives tonight with a massive storm predicted for our free TEN YEARS AFTER concert in the parc by the lac...

A while back I found the web site that had Lance Armstrongs testimony from that law suit. But, I cannot remember that date whenthat took place.
Didn't the testing of the 1999 TDF take place around the fall of 2006? Cheers |
