I have worked with Alberto, a generous and intellignet man with a deep love for Cuba. Those who have the opportunity to listen to him would be wise to take his recommendations to heart. He fully supports changes in U.S. foreign policy toward Cuba and movement toward constructive engagement. May his tribe increase.

If we can tolerate and embrace communist China and monarchies as Jordan and Saudi Arabia even dictators as in Libya, then why can't our government establish diplomatic relations with Cuba?

I agree with everything you said provided castro is removed, Cuba becomes democratic, political prisoners are freed, free enterprise for everyone(not only foreign imnvestors), freedom of worship without persecution, And locking up all the communists in the jails where the political prisoners were kept.
Would your last sentence not be a 'reverse gangbang'? I am not certain as to how many Cubans are members of the Communist party, but it would seem that such an act would only prove more negative and do much damage to reconstruction. We are talking millions of Cubans here!!!! By the way, the Communist Party is allowed to function in the U.S.- would you also suggest they be locked up? It was my thinking that you wanted a truly free and democratic Cuba - coulda been mistaken! Paz!

As you can see for yourself, such sound and consistant logic has no place in the thinking of many on this site. It has much to do with the very strong and politically active Cuban American organizations in the U.S. who have millions of dollars in their war chests and have undue influence in the U.S. Congress. This is slowly changing for the better as more U.S. citizens, more U.S. businesses, more travel agencies, etc. are now speaking out and standing up to those who have for decades (and comprise less than 2% of the population) enjoyed unchecked power and influence over U.S. foreign policy toward Cuba. Viva Cuba!

Are you saying that the U.S. should now cut off all diplomatic relations with China and Vietnam?

Alberto Jones has hi point of view not only about Cuba but also in Politics here in America. He drove a big campain against Bush in 2004 finnaly.. no resulst He does not no think Fidel Casto has violated HUMAN RIGHTS, he also thinks Protitution in Cuba it nothing new, and finnaly to me he is an ANTI_AMerican, Socialist-more to the extreme left than Center...He is a very well educated Black Cuban from Banes that only lived in Cuba 20 years of his life and he is in his 70". I do not agree with him at all .. He likes Castro and I don.t. as simple as that.

Hi C.G.!
You know as well as I do;that many of the so called "Communist party members" in Cuba;belong to that party for just to widen their chances for getting better jobs, better education etc;but many of them don't even like Castro. We both know that, right? So I believe that "Liger Omni" was talking about those Communist that has hurted the Cuban people! But if you ask me ;I strongly believe in forgive and to be forgoten,as the most humane and inteligent solution!Probably one of the most important one!
