I've never understood our laws but it makes more since to me that we get/give grant money for so many things that sometimes i think we forget the most important things.Such as our youth and young adults.I feel we need more places to go for education on being a parent, how toget our ged or eduction or to be mentored in our every day toll.
Just like this mom.I think what she did was wronge but mabe she didn't know better.I know 35 years ago i lived on a farm and it took me 20 minutes todraw enough water to fill my wringer washing machine, and i would leave my babies in the playpen alone.Mabe some one needs to pray that some one can come up with a different answer than jail.I just might be cheaper and more effective. |

This is so sad.I only wish some one out there could help Educate these young people rather than
sitting back judge-ing and doing nothing to help improve our young people. |

Are you kidding me? It seems to me like you are taking up for her. Leaving a 10 month old baby at home for any reason is completely insane. Ok, so what if the baby was sleeping and the doors were locked, does that make it fine? Of course not. The fact of the matter is that anything could have happened. What if the house caught fire, got broke into, or the baby started to choke on something? It scares me to death to even leave my kids in the house to go get something out of the garage. And sorry Sherry and GrannyB, but I don't think being young has anything to do with it. I am a 24 year old mother of two and I know better then to do something like that. Since I just had my son four months ago, I do know this...after you give birth they had out papers of people to call if you have any questions or concerns. I

We learn how to parent from our experiences. Maybe this young mother didn't know any better. Does that make it ok? No. But I have to agree with GrannyB and Sherry. Sounds like we need less judging and more community support.
mommy2, they handed you papers at the hospital so you could call if you had any questions? Are you kidding me? No wonder things like this happen. I bet you had to sign that you recieved the papers before they released you and your child....wouldn't want the hospital to get in trouble, now, would we? |
