Good Luck getting answers... One of our children was attacked on a school bus equipped with cameras. Guess what? The video of which these devices were installed for could not be produced. On top of that the bus, which was a Wilson county school bus, was traveling in Davidson county when this occurred... The school system did everything they possibly could to protect them and the bus driver as if to ignore what had happened to our child... Good Luck...

Im so thankful my child doesn't have to ride a bus. There is so much garbage that goes on the older they get. Im thankful to live so close to a school and be able to drop her off so she doesn't have to ride.

This is terrible! The unnamed 16 year old child should not be allowed back on that bus. She obviously has no self control. Why should Kendall or any of the other children have to ride the bus everyday in fear? That's just as sick as this out of control child. Her parents need to take her to anger management classes and then to SCHOOL, if she is allowed to come back. She should not be allowed to ride the bus again, ever. I often hear people talking about zero tolerence. I am not a big fan of the idea in general, but in cases like this I am all for it. This 16 year old child should not be allowed to ride the bus again. Allowing her to ride will most likely force other parents to make other arrangements to ensure their children's safety. That's not right. Wishing Kendall a speedy recovery and the best of luck to her mom, Kathy, in getting justice for her daughter. The 16 year old child did the damage, but the school failed to protect.

It is very disturbing to hear that this 16 year old girl is going to be allowed to return to school after a 5 day suspension, and even more disturbing to hear that she will be allowed back on the bus to potentially abuse and bully this same 14 year old girl or others. If your child is tardy more than 5 times in a semester even by a few seconds or minutes, or if your child misses more than 5 days in a semester, you will most likely receive a nasty letter from the school district or board telling you that you can be fine or put in jail if you miss or are tardy more than another time or two. We, as parents of of a pincipal's list/honor roll student, have received both. If we can be threatened with fines and jail time because we took our daughter out of school to take a family oriented educational vacation with prior notice to the school or because our child has difficulty sometimes getting it "together" at 6:00 in the morning, then there should be a lot more coming to the parents of this child and the child herself. If there are no rules in place to make the punishment fit the crime a lot better than this, there should be starting now. This little gir is scarred for life. 5 days, really?

I agree with everything you are saying about the kid nto getting enough punishment. I believe she should have gotten more. I will, however, disagree on one point(sort of off the subject I know).. If you were threatened with fines and jail time because your daughter sometimes as difficulty getting it "together" at 6:00 in the morning, you might want to look into an alarm clock for your daughter or making your daughter and your self get up earlier. They don't threaten jail and fines for one or two tardies.. That sounds more like a regular occurence. Just a little unsolicited helpful tidbit.

Lol. I was just reading this thinking the same thing. They don't give fines or threaten jail time over one family vacation and a couple of tardies. This takes a repeat offender. Obviously concerned isn't that concerned about getting their child to school and on time. Perhaps she needs help getting her priorities straight before she talks about how to raise another person's child.. However, yes it is a shame they are letting that child back into school and on the bus. The other girl's parents should go to the school board with the rest of the parents off the bus and demand that child not be allowed to ride the bus anymore..

I appreciate your point of view on the tardies. It wasn't a chronic problem, it was 5 days. I can't find the letter so I may be getting it confused with the one about missing more than 5 days in a semester. It is hard because you can't physically pick them up off the toliet (stomach problems) and carry them out the door. Fortunately, that was a couple of years ago. I could have gotten a doctor's note or written my own but I had not learned how to play "the game" at that point. Anyway, the point that I was making was that running late or being abscent are in no way comparable offenses to bashing someone's head in. I just find it appalling. I can't image how this child and her family must feel.

It may seem hard to believe, but it is true. Check it out with the school board or school district. We couldn't believe it either. That's my point. Seems way extreme on one hand and way too easy on the other. That was their excuse for sending the letter. Our trip was hurting our child's education. It's a form letter. I guess they send the same one to everyone. Granted, principal's list almost every grading period and honor roll the other couple of grading periods doesn't mean that much in TN, but I assure you that it is not us, the parents, that are hurting our childs education. Best of luck to the Kilpatrick family.

It's the same old story, for some reason, when these incidents take place, there is always the excuse that something has failed with the camera system that was put in place just for these types of situations... When is anyone going to do something about this. What's it going to take... Maybe they should just remove these systems and take the money which I'm sure was provided by some sort of tax increase and just give it to someone on the board of education that could put it to good use... It doesn't seem to be doing any good on the buses, well at least not for the purpose it was intended for... What a joke...
