Prescription Drug Overdose Problem In Walker County

Full story: WIAT-TV Birmingham

She almost died, and I don't want to go through that again, and I don't want anybody else to have to go through that again, my daughter lived. The issue came to light after 3 fatalities in an 8-hour window over the weekend, in which the victims all died from prescription medication overdoses. via WIAT-TV Birmingham

Do we have the names of these doctors? I would like to find that info out because I was almost killed last year by a doctor in Walker Co that overdosed me on medication.

I would like to know more information before I put the name of my doctor because of litigation issues with them. Do you know the names of any that got in trouble?

the secrecy needs to stop. the public has the right to know who these doctors are. if they were not going to release any of the names then i would rather them to keep all of the info.

Why do we blame every thing on some one else the doctor did not force those pills down anybody throat most of the patients that go to the doctor no what there doing----The doctor wrights u the pills and tells you how to take them if you feel you dont want them dont take them talk to them about it I just dont think the Doctor will wright you some pills and tell you to take 20 of them at one time sorry i feel this way but its time for people to take responsibiliy for there self

You know we could place blame on the person because they are going to get the drugs some place but listen to this. A friend of mine has a close friend dying of cancer. Hospice is giving her the meds she needs. Then she is going to a doctor in B'ham and getting 600 methadones, 300 dalidas, 300 Norcos. I can't spell these medications. When the friend went with the friend to the doctor she told him she was on Hopice. Now he wants the med list. She's in trouble, now she's mad at the friend for being honest. Lakesmith there is no honesty in drugs.

my son passed away in Nov. 2004, from an overdose of Oxycontin and Xanex prescribed by a "dr" in Newport News. He never examined him, did bloodwork or asked him if he was taking any other meds. He gave my son 1300 pills in 2 months. The "dr" also suspected he was a dealer or addict---THEN WHY GIVE HIM THE PILLS? He murdered my son. He also never told my son the dangers of mixing certain drugs- just asked him what drugs he wanted and gave it to him. This "dr" is a dealer in a white coat.

Dr. Ali, Dr. Boswell and Dr.Bently are 3 that I know of that are prescribing the pills. And they are prescribing way too many at one time. I know that the people taking the pills are somewhat to blame, but there is no reason to give anyone 180 Loritab 10s, 180 Methadone, and 180 Xanax at one time. Oh and by the way if you think this is bull just look at the amount of cars and people at Dr. Ali's office. He's just a dope dealer with a licence. We as a community need to step up and call our local Police and Sheriff and demand this to be stopped!!!!

I know someone that had a doctor give him 180 oxys to sell in three days to save his practice. he also told him how to doctor shop and which pharmacies to use.... this person goes to about 3- doctors a week to get oxys and xanax and they never check him.

You say these things but do you know how it feels to really be in pain and need the medications that these doctors are writing? I have 2 perf. disk in my back and complications from a neck injury I received when I was younger. There is no hope of these ever being fixed to the point of me being pain free - I say bless these physicians - they don't make me feel like a drug addict - they help me feel like getting in the floor and playing with my 6 year old little boy. So before you get on your soapbox and preach the word (by your account) how about trying on someone elses shoes for a change!! As far as the ones who are overdosing on meds - Where are all of you at while they are lonely and taking their pills to cope????

I've lost friends ,and family members due 2 drug overdoses n i wanted 2 blame every1 besides the people i loved, but the truth is when these docs write these scripts we r told the proper way 2 administer them, and weither we chose 2 do this the correct way is kind've on us as the patients.since these occurances i have found myself n a position where i had 2 take pain med's n the shame u feel from ur family all the way 2 the pharmacy is radiculous. can people not understand sometimes there are reasons these meds r wrote,n unless we're n each docs office we r merly speculating. although i do agree if we r going 2 b treated by these physicians shouldnt they at least no our names, health historys n possibly rite a logical number of med's.

IT AINT THE DOCTERS FAULT;HES GIVING PEOPLE DRUGS THAT HAVE BEEN PROVEN OVER DECADES TO WORK ON ANXIETY. THE MENTAL HEALTH CENTER GAVE ME EXPERIMENTAL DRUGS IN HOPES THAT THEY WOULD WORK, INSTEAD THEY HAD ADVERSE REACTIONS ON ME ,THEY EITHER GAVE ME PANIC ATTACKS OR MADE ME STAY AWAKE OR MADE ME PISS ON MYSELF,MY ONLY CURE IS THE TIME PROVEN STUFF, JUST BECAUSE STUPID IDIOTS MIX XANEX WITH PAIN PILLS AND DIE WAS THEIR OWN FAULT.. EVERYBODY KNOWS NOT TO MIX THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS, THE DOCTERS REMIND EVERYBODY EVERY DAY OF THAT. I,VE HAD FREINDS DIE MYSELF FROM OVERDOSES,(IT WAS THEIR OWN FAULTS,IN EVERYCASE) THEY NEW THE RISK BUT THEY DID IT ANYWAY. ITS SUICIDE IF YOU ASK ME!

I was told they now drug test to cover their butts in the dr's office. I work with this several guys who use one of these dr's and sell there script, one guy trades his for methadone, I can't seem to figure out how it doesn't show up on the drug test.

You can go out our back door at work in Addison and there is a group of people smoking pot, bosses know and do not care, one boss at the door smokes with them.

Bosses don't care, Police don't care. Just look the other way, it's their health.

Your powers of concentration are finely honed today, enabling you to focus on something to the exclusion of all else. This is just what you need if you're hoping to make a big dent in your workload or you're doing something very fiddly or detailed.
